On what basis do you think its down to many social movements? What are they? Both the monarchy and the maoists seem intent on crushing any group inbetween.

If you have bothered to read about the complexity of Nepali society and the maoists you will learn that different areas and cultures are run by the local people and not by these mythical demons that roam the forests.

That not a very well detailed source, it just mentions that there are some. Nothing about their size, locations, activities or relationship with the CNP-Maoists.

You are not the person to be maoning about others sources Fabian.

Jeez, what a whinging class traitor. Why doesn't she just shut up and support the cause? I'm sure she'd admit the king is shit, so why is she trying to undermine the rightful class-based insurgency like this?

Why don't you ask 'macabre' for a decent reference to see that this is the norm in the armed struggle or just bollocks.

If there isn't one then you know this is merely an isolated incident or a lie.

If you really want to learn a little about the lives of women involved with this struggle then I suggest you something well referenced and peer reviewed where the researchers have spent time with women both in villages and in prison that I have referenced already.

If you want more details, which I doubt, pm me.

The fucking clueless barbaric Nepalese should have the wit to listen to those in the know who post on Urban75 so that they can understand what is best for them.

The stupid ungrateful savages.

No shit its run by the locals, locals who by all accounts behave pretty much the same as the army.

My several independant human rights organisation that give indepth, well sourced details really fall down against that propoganda site dont they. The only sources you provided, in the form of spamming us with 2 amazon books to buy, are irrelevant to the point of how the Maoists behave currently. From the one chapter available on the net and many online reviews of the book it would seem that they offer interesting, specific accounts of the struggles that Nepalis had under the old system and how the Maoists grew from a grass roots organisation, no one is saying the king isnt a bastard and how the Maoist began has nothing to do with how they act today. If there is a part of those books which some how justifies the brutality, hypocracy and corruption of the Maoists please post an exhert from it, otherwise stop using it as source as it is irrelevant to the debate.

DUAF,

It's wholly disingenuous of you to start this bullshit again on this thread to try and mislead peeps.

You started a discussion thread and, ultimately, abandoned it when it became clear that the bulk of the wealth of credible sources presented did not support your viewpoint.

If you have any refutation of the evidence produced in the multiple, recent, in-depth, quality, strongly-referenced sources linked to there, you should get back to that thread and start trying to refute!

To try and start the same, already discredited, nonsense here - without providing any links (not even the old and superceded ones you tried to fly the first time,) is dishonest.

Add to that an appeal for peeps to PM you for "more details" and it really does, once again, reiterate the paucity of your arguments and expose the desperation of your tactics in trying to garner support for a group that has been years-revealed as an horrific blight on the poor of Nepal.

If you had anything new, you'd've posted it on the other thread.

You don't.

I would, therefore, urge anyone receiving PM's on this topic from DUAF to read the source provided and then read the thread previously started by DUAF (I've posted the link on this thread, it's long but important,) and check whether the same link/source is already there. I'm pretty sure it will be, since DUAF's ammo seemed to dry up on that thread after being fairly well blown away.

Were there any NEW information in refutation of the many sources on that thread, I would have hoped that DUAF would have had the integrity to post it there, rather than posting more unreferenced wibble on this thread.

Such is life.

Oh,

And anyone who starts a poll with the question: "Preferred outcome?" and presents one possible answer as: "Both as bad as each other", is also grasping at straws.

It don't make sense.

So I voted: "Something esle" for an outcome, along with many others.

They are as bad as each other, of course. and both deteriorating to boot.

(Edit: Forgot to mention, fishfingerer neglected to back-up his voluble "Maoist" rhetoric on the other thread too.)
