Neil Young: Living With War

Is this considered country music?

e2a: I have no idea what it would be classified as.

I don't think it's country music. Country music is the sort of thing where your boyfriend goes off with your mother and stuff like that. I don't think political songs written to make people think fit into the 'country music' category.

Mind you, I've been a fan of CSNY for half my life, since the time of Woodstock and all that, and I guess I'm sort of biased. Or maybe it's a sign of aging - sigh.

I've been told that if you play country music backwards, you get your house/wife/dog back :D

CSNY are playing here this summer

Well it's good to know that country singers have a way out of all that angst. But are you sure? Isn't it more likely they listen to their songs backwards, OD on their meds or shoot themselves, and they don't need a house/wife/dog any more?

Where's 'here'?

I'm from just outside Ottawa, Ontario.

Album not out here til the 15th I think. Although should be available on i-tunes and other music download places before then (tomorrow maybe?).

Been playing this a lot over the wqeekend and everyone's been giving it the thumbs up...a return to the Ragged Glory/Freedom era. Well recommended.

Oops!!!

Seems that Fox news reporters aren't Neil Young fans.

The press response will be fascinating, but, no matter what, it is not likely to top John Gibson’s gaffe on Fox News this week. On April 28, Gibson blasted Young, charging that he must be suffering from "amnesia" about the terrorist attacks of 9/11. He suggested that Young go see the new movie, "United 93," about the hijacked flight that went down in Pennsylvania that day. Gibson even offered to buy Young a ticket.

Whoops. It was Neil Young who wrote one of the highest-profile songs about 9/11, right after the tragedy -- "Let's Roll," which paid tribute to the passengers on United 93.

Instead of sleeping which I really need to do I am playing it and I like it a lot so far. Granted only on track one, but the choir thing is working and he sounds on form. Neil Young rocks my world. Got to admire the guy for being not shit after so many years. EDIT Am kind of reminded how much A Silver Mt Zion sound like Neil Young and with the whole choir thing, he sounds a bit like them, in a way. Track 3 is indeed excellent.
