I hope the stuff coming out isn't true, but I'm not buying Netflix saying there isn't enough content, they have only adapted 16 out of a 75 issue run, seems like damage control to me in case the allegations do end up being true.
Oh certainly. I mean Netflix might just randomly pull the plug at any time.e but the not enough content stuff is oremo bullshit

Though I have liked a couple of gaimans works, I found Sandman utterly tedious and mostly forgettable (other than it was a tedious pretentious snoozefest). In that regard, I felt the tv show was a faithful adaptation. I didn't manage past two episodes.
Was the show even doing all that well before the aligations were all over the place?

I know next to nothing about Gaiman, but I guess we won't be seeing the episode of the Simpsons with his cameo in again. He had a great line in that which has been a family in-joke with my daughter growing up. That's that ruined along with Buttery Biscuit Bass thanks to Gregg Fucking Wallace.

I've brought her up emphasising never to believe in people or put them on pedestals, but it seems the real lesson is you can't even trust public figures not to be complete scumbags...

Never read the comics (not a fan of that genre) but i adored the series.....a huge fan of Gaimans books (have read and own most of them) so all the recent revelations have been very painful.....

Just looking at his bibliography and actually there isn't a lot in there what I am particularly interested in. None of his 2000ad stories are memorable in the way Alan Moore's were.
I thought Stardust was a good jaunt, but not worth revisiting. Coroline is good. Good Omens is a GREAT idea, but IMO executed really badly. All the fun stuff is skipped over. I heard an outline of the story and wanted to read. Surely the set up is the intriguing element? I didn't get far, thought I would do the TV show instead but that was even worse.

Phew. I am marked safe from whatever the outcome of the accusations.

📌 The Terry Pratchett Estate has issued a statement regarding the Good Omens graphic novel adaptation, amid allegations of sexual assault against co-author Neil Gaiman. The project, funded by a Kickstarter campaign that raised over £2 million, will proceed without Gaiman receiving any proceeds. Gaiman has denied the allegations made by eight women.

The statement says “Given the project management, production and all communication has always been under the jurisdiction of the estate on behalf of Good Omens at large, this will not fundamentally change the project itself, however we can confirm the Kickstarter and PledgeManager will now fully be an entity run by, and financially connected to, the Terry Pratchett Estate only."

It goes on to add: "A number of tiers also come with author merchandise and books; we have been working on a system in the back end to remove or swap out particular rewards from tiers, should you wish to continue with the project, but not receive these specific items."

The statement ends by saying: "Good Omens in all its forms is very special to us, and we know that for many fans the landscape has shifted. We appreciate the sensitivity of this issue, and will be working through all queries in the coming weeks.

"We will continue on our journey with Crowley and Aziraphale, and all of our surrounding plans, in some form. Thank you for being part of the journey with us."

The statement is signed by The Terry Pratchett Estate (Good Omens HQ)
This highlights the difference been employer and employee.

Netflix can sack off the Sandman production as thousands of other productions are happy to take its place.

Good Omens production is fighting for its own survival. It's own jobs.

Neil Gaiman: accuser files civil lawsuit alleging rape, sexual assault and human trafficking - The Guardian

A woman from New Zealand has filed a civil lawsuit against bestselling British author Neil Gaiman and his estranged wife, musician Amanda Palmer, accusing Gaiman of repeatedly sexually assaulting her while she was working as the couple’s babysitter and nanny. (...) Pavlovich’s lawsuit also accuses Gaiman of rape, coercion and human trafficking, and Palmer of “procuring and presenting” her to Gaiman “for such abuse”.

I just read the first part of the court filings. Horrific. Guy needs locking up, never mind paying out some money.

Neil Gaiman suing accuser over breaking NDA - The Beat

Vulture reports Neil Gaiman is seeking financial compensation from Caroline Wallner — his former tenant, and one of the women who accused of him of sexual assault — over breaking her non-disclosure agreement. The author, 64, reportedly paid Wallner $275,000 in exchange for her silence about his alleged two-year period of misconduct from 2018 to 2020, and is now purportedly seeking $500,000, to cover the cost of the repayment, attorneys’ fees, and penalties for each interview she has given to the media.
The decision was apparently spurred by Wallner’s own claim to legal arbitration, filed last year, accusing Gaiman of not following the NDA either, because his lawyer had allegedly not destroyed the evidence of their “engagement” like they had agreed to. Vincent White, Wallner’s lawyer, told Vulture he was surprised by Gaiman’s decision, explaining allegedly abusive men rarely sue women over violating their NDAs because of the poor light it paints them in. He says, “Everyone thinks, ‘Oh, the allegation must be true.’ I would think he may have come to the conclusion he has nothing left to lose.”
A spokesperson for Gaiman responded, “Wallner’s purported claims are completely meritless. We have no doubt that we will prevail in arbitration — and that Ms. Wallner’s actions will result in her having to pay Neil’s legal fees.” Gaiman has previously admitted that he has been “careless” and “selfish” in his relationships, but denies committing “any abuse” or “non-consensual sexual activity,” and said he was “not willing to turn my back on the truth,” or “accept being described as someone I am not, and cannot and will not admit to doing things I didn’t do.”
Wallner, a potter, and her then husband, a builder, were initially tenants on Gaiman’s property in Woodstock, New York. She said that when they divorced, Gaiman approached her for sex, and she agreed, fearing he would ask her and her three daughters to leave the property. It ended when he moved to New Zealand at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and she decided to ignore his messages; he asked her to leave and negotiated the NDA later in 2021. Wallner’s ex-husband is also named in Gaiman’s legal claim, because he signed the NDA as well.
This is the second legal case Gaiman is now involved in, after his former nanny, Scarlett Pavlovich, filed a federal lawsuit against him and his ex-partner, Amanda Palmer, seeking millions in damages on several charges, including allegedly trafficking her, sexually assaulting her, and inflicting emotional distress. Gaiman has asked for that lawsuit to be dismissed, arguing it should be heard in New Zealand, where the abuse allegedly took place, instead of the United States, while calling Pavlovich a “fantasist”. Only time will tell how both cases, or any further possible ones involving his other accusers, will proceed.
(emphases added)

Yeah I saw the headline "Gaiman sues his accuser" and thought he was contesting her claims. But no, just that she broke the agreement that said she couldn't say anything. Unreal. Horrible bastard.

Parallels with Pete Hegseth and the (second!) Signal chat row - it’s never the thing they’ve done wrong, it’s always about going after the person that spoke out. They’re never sorry for what they did, they’re only sorry they got caught.

Apparently it’s about forcing a settlement not a realistic idea of getting cash

It’s still a shit move but then doing what he got up to is also a shit move cos he’s a shit
