Managed to get through the whole series last weekend. Loved it. Planning to watch it all again, this time with mrs mx.

I guess there's a sequel in the pipeline........?
Id hope so as it's only covered 2 out of the 11/12 graphic novels and it seems so well received it, it's bound to happen.

I wonder why they have made sandman so mundane looking and human. No flowing robes of night, moon coloured skin and stars for eyes. Just a bloke in black clothes.

I really liked most of the series but thought the quality varied far more than most series. I hope there will be more though.

Neil Gaiman is by far my favourite author for Graphic novels, Ben Aaronovich would come second, although like Gaiman his prose novels are also good. He is more limited with the whole Rivers of London series. And of course Garth Ennis is there too.

Because they wanted a "they walk among us unnoticed" feel.

Haven't finished the Death episode yet. Honestly, the comics blow this out the water, which was TBE.

Not by any means bad, but not as compelling as I'd hoped. The style and art of the comics is just so unique that the TV show feels kinda prosaic by comparison. YMMV. Full marks for them trying and I've no objection to it continuing.

I'd heard they were working on a Rivers of London adaptation.

I've got halfway through (up to the first episode of the Doll's House book), and while I've enjoyed it, I've no plans to watch the remaining episodes any time soon. It's just... OK.

Just watched the first episode. It looks pretty but having never read the books I have no fucking clue what the hell is going on. Can someone give me a brief (non spoilery) outline? :D

Emo kid is the Lord of dreams. He gets captured by a cut rate Aleister Crowley, imprisoned for a 100 years and his equipment stolen. He eventually escapes and hilarity ensues.

I rewatched, because it’s rich. My favourite bit is the Hob story. And death. I guess I’m not especially delighted by magic and myths and superpowers so, although those bits are fine, they’re not my favourites.

My kitten was very interested in the bonus episode.

Watching episode 2. Does it get any better than this intensely irritating crap that can’t decide if it’s a kids show, a comedy, or some deep and meaningful fantasy?

It’s awful :D

Will that make it any better
It’s a really visual show (because it was a comic?). You can’t hope to get the best out of any screen entertainment if you don’t keep your eyes on the screen. LikAnd if you’re reading and writing, you’re missing the nuances of language and performance too.

None of that means you’ll definitely like this show, but it’s unreasonable to say a show isn’t good if you only see and listen to bits of it.

Well, to be fair I only posted here after it was annoying the crap out of me :hmm:

It’s like Dr Who, but taking itself seriously.

TBF I took 2.5 episodes for me to get into it properly. But it does get much better imo from the third. As I’ve raved about this aplenty, episodes 4 and 5 are superb, and anything but a kiddies show.

I really like it. Have never read the comics. Contest with death ftw . And the death/immortal bloke in the pub episode was good too.

That's a hell of spin comment.

But also Netflix adaptation have notoriously flaky productions
I hope the stuff coming out isn't true, but I'm not buying Netflix saying there isn't enough content, they have only adapted 16 out of a 75 issue run, seems like damage control to me in case the allegations do end up being true.

Not entirely surprising after the stuff that has been coming out about Neil Gaiman.
Also: (apologies for David Tennant still using Facebook)
📌 The Terry Pratchett Estate has issued a statement regarding the Good Omens graphic novel adaptation, amid allegations of sexual assault against co-author Neil Gaiman. The project, funded by a Kickstarter campaign that raised over £2 million, will proceed without Gaiman receiving any proceeds. Gaiman has denied the allegations made by eight women.

The statement says “Given the project management, production and all communication has always been under the jurisdiction of the estate on behalf of Good Omens at large, this will not fundamentally change the project itself, however we can confirm the Kickstarter and PledgeManager will now fully be an entity run by, and financially connected to, the Terry Pratchett Estate only."

It goes on to add: "A number of tiers also come with author merchandise and books; we have been working on a system in the back end to remove or swap out particular rewards from tiers, should you wish to continue with the project, but not receive these specific items."

The statement ends by saying: "Good Omens in all its forms is very special to us, and we know that for many fans the landscape has shifted. We appreciate the sensitivity of this issue, and will be working through all queries in the coming weeks.

"We will continue on our journey with Crowley and Aziraphale, and all of our surrounding plans, in some form. Thank you for being part of the journey with us."

The statement is signed by The Terry Pratchett Estate (Good Omens HQ)
