Does anyone have a reliable source for C5 viewing figures? I'd always thought Neighbours was more popular than Home & Away, but it's the latter they're keeping.

2.5 million UK viewers compared with 840k Australian viewers. Iirc that's why it's ended because most of their revenue comes from the UK and as C5 has decided to drop it they can't afford to keep making it.

I always knew it had higher viewing figures in the UK. What I was after was how it compared to Home & Away over here, because I would guess they cost C5 similar sums.

UK figures for neighbours is usually 1 million while home & away is 400K

Watched the final week today over my shoulder today whilst doing some strenuous housework and thoroughly enjoyed it (haven't watched soaps in 15+ years). Loved spotting the people I remember from the periods I watched (1987 or so to 1995ish and then 2005 or so, plus the early days when UK Gold first started). All the news mentioned how 20m watched Scott and Charlenne's wedding, but IIRC, they used to get 15-16m every day, the second most watched show after Eastenders on 20m. They really fucked up by jacking up the price and having to move to C5.

I'm not sure what they spent the extra money on, because the production values were never that high. The extras, who worked in the coffee shop, the Water Hole or the hospital, were always unnaturally silent, presumably because they'd have to pay the actors more if they spoke. And Ramsay Street resident were only ever treated in one room of the hospital, and taught in one classroom at the school.

As far as I know only Susan, Karl, Toadie and Paul are confirmed. They were the stalwarts for at least the final 15 years or so, but I imagine, if the actors are willing, they'll also bring back Therese, Kyle, David and Aaron too.

Since Amazon are funding it, it's difficult to imagine where they'll get new storylines for wife-hopping, millionaire, sociopathic cunt Paul from...
