Nasty, NASTY Firefox Update

I haven't updated my Firefox yet. I keep putting it off cos of few ppl saying some of the above....*twitches nervously*

:hmm:

Has anyone read the terms of service agreement for Chrome? Is it different from other browsers? On a quick reading it seems to give google permission to do filtering but possibly this is me not understanding the terminology.

Call me unduly cynical if you will, but Google IS TAKING OVER MY BRanES maaan.

Not a sniff on the Register yet (that I've found, anyway) - and the open sourceness tends to imply that anything dodgy they do will be not only found out very quickly, it will be undone and redistributed very soon after.

The moment it has mouse gestures, it will become my default browser. Been using it for 20 mins and am dead impressed already.

It seems to have UK English on the spell check as a default for me. (Spell check was why I switched from opera to ff)

Colour :)

Interestingly, Mozilla is pretty much owned by Google (yeah I know that's an old article, there was a more recent one in the Register but I can't find it). I wonder what this development will do for that relationship :hmm:

I don't like that they've got rid of all the decent themes now Firefox is on v3 but I guess they'll come. It does look a bit of a mess though but I'm getting use to it now.

I just restarted Firefox so v3 is now running. This thread made me a bit more careful about reading the new features page though, which was actually quite helpful - especially about the Bookmark features and tagging.

It's appearance is much more like IE but not that hard to get used to.

I like it (so far). Got some clever new bits especially in the location bar.

Firefox just clogged me up too much using shitloads of memory, I had to have Task Manager open all the time to kill it when it inevitably went wappy.

Glad Chrome has arrived, runs like a dream.

It's magic :)

And also potentially evil. Go read the Chrome thread :p

My laptop is on the way out so I love this add-on... only annoyance is it keeps asking me to verify the account (at random intervals) even though I haven't added new bookmarks... anyone know how to stop this?

Me too. I kind of linked it to Firefox updates but maybe that's me making random connections. Anyway, once the Firefox upgrade was up and running & the Foxmarks verification - it hasn't happened since. Mind you, that's only throughout the course of today, tomorrow's another day!

Open source software that anyone can read, freely change and freely redistribute which comes with an unenforceable EULA because they forgot to rewrite it as appropriate for the type of software being distributed.

Yeah, it's a conspiracy, maaaan. :D
