NASA to announce success of "long galactic hunt"!!

If it turns out to just be this Black Hole, the obvious question is: so what? Did it really warrent all the suspense?

naah, that was it. Space dust. Not even space dust getting sucked into a big black hole.

Fuck off NASA,you're shit.

I hope they announced it slowly, with a pause between the last two words.

Youngest ever supernova remnant apparently.

140±30 years old. That's very young on cosmic scales. You're looking at a shell of highly energetic gas about 13 light years across, expanding at 5% of the speed of light. The orange is XRay radiation, the blue is radio waves.
We've actually known about this thing for years, but it's only now that we know how old it is, because we've measured it's motion

Not the galactic black hole though :(

It's a rip off innit, why make an announcement that you're going to make an announcement, when it's a big pile of old dust. It wasn't even dust being sucked into a big hole. I suppose that one thing I'm not dissapointed at,is that I was dissapointed.

Well I think it's quite exciting, in cosmic terms 140 years is the blink of an eye, it's like watching it as it happens :D But then I do score quite high on the geekometer :o

I was quietly hoping for a disclosure type of event, especially as you say, timed with the release of the ufo files, and the vatican saying that it is not against god to believe in aliens, and you should think of them as your brothers.

but,I can link ufo disclosure to anything,in my head :D total wishful thinking, but it keeps me quiet.
