NaNoWriMo 2009

You still going scifisam? Anyone else?

Only 500 words behind target now, which isn't great as I really need to be ahead after the weekend. Have delevoped the odd skill of being to type every single word wrongly, ie the right letters in the wrong order. It used to be just one word per sentence.:D

I'm 10K words behind, but still soldiering on. I can only hope that someone finds this manuscript after I die. This novel has turned into the most bootleg Henry Darger-esque shit I have ever written. It makes no fucking sense!

As I understand it, NaNoWriMo is about not being critical of what you write, you save that for December. Don't worry about it being shit, worry about writing it down for now.

that is nanowrimo:cool:

my last year's effort was 50,000 words about my struggle to write 50,000 words for nanowrimo:D

just get it down, editing is not for November (or any other time if you look at my 4 efforts )

The one time I actually managed to finish (not doing it this year, no time) I never went back and edited it, in fact I've not even looked at it since finishing, I was so sick of the story after forcing myself to write so much so quickly, I have however nicked my favourite bits for use in other stories, aided by the fact that the story span three periods in history, and featured about twenty characters with roughly equal billing.

Oh, I'm quite happy for it to be this shit! I've had the flu/been doped up on cold medicine for the past week, so the bulk of the narrative genuinely sounds as if the author has been tripping balls. Which I have. I'll probably lock it in a drawer during December and then print the whole mess out in January and perform readings in my apartment for interested friends. :D

I'm still sulking that marty had time for nano but not our urban contest.

Marty's not doing it this year, but he has in the past so he turns up to encourage those of us who are. Once I've finished the NaNo project (possibly around March at this rate) I'll have a bash at the Urban contest but the standard is very high and I is a scaredy-cat.

God, twenty characters? I'm already reduced to calling new characters One, Two , Beardy and similar

Characters are easy, or were at the time, if I was stuck I'd just create a new character and chuck them in, nice bit of back story to push up the word count. I have trouble with plotting stories that are going to last more than 10,000 words or so, so any Nano "novel" is going to have to include at least five stories stuck together:o:facepalm:

Don't get me wrong, Nano is ace if you've got the time.
