NaNoWriMo 2008 (bit early but so what...)

Not a great day for writing but I have limped over the 40k mark and will look to try and get that to 45 at least by tomorrow evening. It's starting to get easier in terms of writing as a whole. The characters are clearer in my mind and the plot's just made a crucial turn for the better.

i just got back from work, so nothing at all today, but going in late tomorrow so the target is 4000 for tomorrow, that'll get me up to 41000, with friday to come and the final weekend, i'll be chuffed if i finish - estimated time of finishing, about five to midnight on the 30th

can i write 38, 000 words in a couple of days? umm no :(

having said that i might try and get it up to 50k by the end of 2008 ...

none so far today or yesterday:o about to start, will try and reach 40k by midnight, about 2500 away

Just got to my minimum target for today of 45k and though I've got plenty of time to do more I have absolutely no intention of doing so. My narrative has, of course, reached a natural break and the prospect of an evening drink in the pub watching the football is purely coincidental. ;):D

you should coast in now:)

nano update

just passed 43000, agonisingly close, just today and tomorrow, which luckily is a weekend, if I had come to this during the week, I doubt I would be able to finish, as it is, it will be tight

<returns to writing anything to add to word count>

Woot!

I'm done. Sorted. Feeling pretty chuffed and am off to celebrate.

woot !! well done

I'm agonisingly close, 46500, still going to be tough to get over the line, less than twenty four hours to go, done nearly 5000 today in an effort to finish, I will get there, will be glad when it's over:D

49000!!

less than an hour to write 1000 words, why wasn't i this motivated at the start of the month ?

woot!!!

done it, an hour for the last 1000, 50,050!!!

in the middle of the month with just 12000 written i must admit, i wasn't sure I'd finish, but kept plugging away, and did it - 4 years on the trot - I feel like steve redgrave

part of the excel spreadsheet, wrote 2/3 of it since 17th November, when MA was almost finished, and I was thinking I never would :)

why nanowrimo is essentially a flawed concept imo.

genius is not rushed

;)

agreed, it is a bit of a flawed concept, but it does encourage you to write, puts pressure on you to write, puts a clock on it, and out of the pressure , some good stuff emerges, editing has to be done, and this time I'm going to go back to nanowrimo 1, my first one,(this is the 4th :o) and edit that, about time really

First and foremost well done Marty. I have to shamefully admit that when you were at 12k with half the game to play I thought it wasn't going to happen but you've proved me and everyone else here (no doubt including yourself) wrong.

Here's the thing. The biggest lesson I've taken from the whole nanowrimo exercise is that writing is principally a long, hard slog. It's not some hi-falutin art form that you can just traipse into and rail off, it's a craft with rules and technicques that you'd be a damn fool not to learn. In short all the preciousness around novelists and writing is utterly false. Bunch of blaggers trying to pass off the tools of their trade for divine genius.

I got dragged along by you and MA, and once I got into the groove, two weekends were the key, the last two weekends I did about 18000 over the saturdays and sundays

well done marty50k :D

50,000 words (once again) and 30,000 posts.. time to be kind to your carpal tunnels a rest with some strength exercise... spend some time lifting several of these...
