Name one good musical

And, OK, Hedwig And The Angry Inch is a quality film. But I don't think it's a musical really. It's a film in which the characters happen to do some singing....

But considering the story follows a rock star on concert following the rock star who stole hr songs, the songs are pretty integral to the whole thing and that's like saying it's about some singers who happen to do some singing. Lyrically, musically and animation-ally, I love it.

Well, that is exactly what I'd say about it, yes :D
I still don't think it's a musical. A musical is something in which people break into song for no good reason, frequently.

Cute little Gary Wilmott is in it at the moment! I love Gary Wilmott. He once shouted at me for cheating during a pub quiz.

Oh and Honey from Eastenders is playing Roxy.

:O
I LOVE Gary Wilmott!

Honey though? Oh I guess she must be good or she wouldn't have been hired.

*goes to look at ticket prices*

I'm losing ground rather rapidly here.
I should never be adamant when I'm drunk. Damn.

It began it's life as a stage musical.

Aaah, I see. Hmmm.... Well, although I'm not a big fan of musicals, I don't mind people breaking into song for no good reason so long as I like the music and the lyrics. I like My Fair Lady because it is based on Pygmalion, one of my favourite plays, and the lyrics are as witty as Shaw's text, but overall the whole thing does go on a bit too long. The Wizard of Oz is good. Not only people breaking into song for no good reason, but scarecrows, tinmen, lions and munchkins (are we still allowed to call them that these days?). And all in Technicolor! Whatever will they think of next!

Wicked.
Sometimes, I really do love that people just like what they like!

I like most of them, to be fair, but my GF only likes West Side Story, Rocky Horror and Little Shop of Horrors, which are all excellent.

Did you watch it all - great scene.

Yeah I even remember liking the song in the film!
I think I want to draw a distinction between films that could be proper films intercut with music videos and films that choose to convey their entire content via the medium of (too often very cheesy and excessively instrumented) songs.
