Nails and Nail Varnish

I'm always wearing nail varnish, I can't remember the last time I had 'bare' nails. :D I like Barry M. Brighter colours the better. My mum loooooathes it, she doesn't understand why I don't wear 'normal' colours.

I will explain magnetic nails tomorrow. Forgot I had posted tbh :o

I currently have one ladybird nail and one with googly eyes. will sort pictures.

I wear nail polish most of the time, but I only discovered recently how important it is to put a strengthening base coat first: your nails grow, and the varnish lasts much, much longer before it chips. Before, I used to ruin them wearing bad quality nail varnish, now I can wear any colour, provided the nail is protected with some decent quality base first. In fact my current Rimmel base coat does the trick, nothing fancy.

OK naily ladies - I have really crappy weak nails, they never grow very long and its very difficult to get them all to something resembling a length equally! However I really quite like the idea of wearing nail varnish. I wear nail varnish indoors but remove it before venturing outdoors cos I think my nails look silly and I end up painting half my fingers as well as the nails :D

Do you lot have any tips for keeping short nails looking nice? I keep thinking I need to sort my cuticles out- I can only see the half moon bits at the base on my thumb nails - should the moons be visible on all fingers? whats the best method for cuticle care... as oppsed to occasionally poking them back with apen lid? :S

could you treat yourself to a manicure to start you off? it's much easier to maintain than to start from scratch. groupon often do cheap deals.

yeah i did think about that - there are plenty of nail bars near me but think theyre more for pretend nails :D how do you decide where is good to go for a manicure?! i think there might be nail bar type places in a couple of the department stores in Croydon - would they do?? *useless*

My nails used to be like that for yers, and like you, halfmoons are only visible on my thumbs, but I think that's normal, jsut different in different people.

Start by using a strengthening base, as I posted earlier, it really had a big effect on my nails' overall condition. I don'tlike mine very long, but they look even and healthy an no crappy nail polish can get through the base coat and break them (well, up to a point).

yeah - you probably don't want a south london nail bar. more likely a beautician if local. alternatively, if you can afford it, i'd go for a nails inc manicure. the one that's about £30-35 is good. Not the 'two week' manicure, though. that's not really what you want.

daughter did them - but I have been learning to repair her nail jobs on my nails and I can now do a passable polka dot set

What's the idea with that then? I just had a vision of you stuck to the fridge.
You hold a magnet that comes with it over them and it makes a pattern/stripes
