Nails and Nail Varnish

I tried lilac last week which was a massive change from my usual dark or red or ridiculous. Actually not vile and chipping was less noticeable. I'm back to dark this week - green purple shift.

I bought Glamour mag this month, just to get the free bottle of Nails Inc varnish
It's a glorious dark maroon-ish red ('Picadilly Circus' I think). Unfortunately I've just realised it's the colour of my old school uniform

I did the same but got a brighter red called 'Tate'. Been wearing it all week, looks great on short'ish nails and very chip resistant, usually prefer darker colours but like this a lot

Carry on though heh. fwiw I tried some crackle nail varnish and I must have done it wrong cos it looked well shit. I have never used undercoat of overcoat There is a big old world of nail care unbeknownst to me.

Nails Inc glitter varnishes, where have you been all my life?!
3 for the price of 2 atm, so I got one each for my sisters & me. I kept 'Chelsea Square'. Just putting it on now. It's utterly awesome. I suspect it won't last long though, looks easily chippable. BUT GORGEOUS.

Edit: I'm not actually being paid to promote Nails Inc, even though it might seem like it I just like them.

oh goddddd. i have spent an actual, technical fortune on nails inc over the last few months.

painting your nails is a good displacement activity for eating in the evenings.

i paint my toes maybe every 3 months over the summer (i.e. twice ) otherwise, i just try to scrub the ink/paint/fag stains off them

I got this for my daughter when she was little and how I get a lot of good pedicures and she gets paid for doing nail designs

I have some of that crackle nail varnish, it's ace. Tonight I am going to do a red basecoat and then put gold crackle polish on top. Festive!

I have, in recent months, been having OPI Axxium nails - the range of colours isn't huge but I loved their Muppet range and was wearing "going gonzo" for several months.

Sadly, my nails all broke earlier in the month, so going to get them back to a decent length again before going back on them. Might paint my nails tonight, even if they are a bit short.

Ohh, what are striping tools? I had some tacky Christmas nails. That is green polish with red dots. My mum looked a bit confused/disturbed when I showed them to her

I'm currently wearing an OPI dark red and made a discovery a few weeks ago. I've been using a Sally Hansen base coat, just because I've had it for years. When I started wearing OPI last summer I bought the OPI top coat too. I have found though that my nails last longer, don't really chip much at all and don't shrink from the edge so much if I just use base coat and two coats of colour. Leaving off the top coat. Anyone else found this?

Hmm, I find that if I don't wear a top coat my nails get chipped to fuck within about a day but I've never used a proper base coat, just a clear varnish when I've not wanted to stain my nails. Will get some SH base coat and experiment
