I would say not crap, since it's reasonably well made music in a does-what-it-says-on-the-tin way, but it is boring boring boring as fuck, so boring I'd rather eat my own vomit than listen to a whole album of it.

*lol* Yup, that about sums it up!

I think he's crap and incredibly bland. I don't quite get why so many people like him though. I guess he's been hyped by plenty of broadsheets, innit.

A former (hoo-ray!) housemate of mine ravesd about Mylo, and she was one of those wierd people who only bought like 3 new CD's a year. Sums it up I guess.

It just goes to show how much shit the uk dance industry is in if he's the saviour

Very true. In that context, it's understandable why they're milking him to death.

It's a cheaply made dance music album with plenty of 80s samples for 20 and 30 something Guardian readers to spot that can be listened to by selfsame audience at home. Plus he plays live, which is key to a dance music act being commercially successful in this country, as people/festival goers who are into indie/rock music only buy dance music if it can be performed, ie apeing a rock concert (see Underworld, Chemicals, Orbital). Add in a strong visual identity for his sleeves, posters etc to compensate for the fact he's an introverted, pretty ordinary looking Scottish bloke, and there you have it, the saviour of the British dance music industry.

I don't see why he draws so much hate. I suppose Destroy Rock and Roll is commercially successful and inoffensive, and that offends people who pride themselves on being underground and non-mainstream (ie a lot of people on this board). I personally think it's an OK pop album and that Drop the Pressure was/is a bloody great record that people either loved or hated and which worked on dancefloors of many genres and persuasions. Good for him, I say. I can think of a lot more people in the music industry to whom I begrudge financial success more than Mylo. Alll those awful Coldplay-lite bands for instance.

People who know my taste in music kept telling me that I would like him and I should listen.
I did and was thoroughly bored!
I'm concerned about what they think my taste in music is now!

I'm pretty sure he's just happy putting tunes out. He's hardly on a crusade.

(I had a quick listen to the Vitalic LP , but it didn't grab me. Maybe I need to give it another listen.)

go on! listen to 'my friend dario' on volume 11 :)

bought 'destroy rock & roll' on the back of how much i liked drop the pressure when it came out. not sure if it's my lack of media interaction that doesn't seem him being hyped up but it's pretty much the first i'd heard of it. anyways, enjoyable album, some filler but some damn fine tracks on there.
