Making sure it's getting reported widely etc could also make the twats feel less safe doing this in the park too, the more people that know about it the more aware everyone is.
If I were a mugger the park is the last place I'd use. It's well lit with broad flat spaces. There are loads of people around, often fit people, and some of them running. Hardly anyone is drunk. Stuff happens but on the whole I'd reckon the park is safer than streets during the day.
I heard Sgt Tom Cornish of the Herne Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team do a little feedback to the Herne Hill Forum a few days ago and apparently there have been several muggings in Brockwell Park over the last few weeks - more than before. Mostly on teenagers, apparently mostly down towards the Dulwich Rd bit.
The police are aware of it, and so are the Park Rangers. Good idea to be a bit aware if youre in the park though, sadly.

sadly, the people who are doing this are just macho wankers looking for a bit of power/ assertion etc as opposed to hard core crims- that doesnt help the victims though
