My poxy hoover just nearly had me in tears

I usually take the tube off, and run water through it to clear out anything that might be blocking it. It can be tricky (I usually do it in the bathroom) and then hang it outside to dry.

this

bath is ideal. otherwise run it from the taps into the bog

:D
I tried the water thing just now, but because it gets used so rarely (about once a week or less) there's not really any dust on the inside of the tube. My old hoover had a thick layer of grime in it and worked okay. I really don't know wtf it's playing at, as my boyfriend said "I've met nuns with better suction" :D

you aren't worried about the dust on the inside of the tube  a blockage will normally be an object that was a bit big with some fluff around it.

with the tube out, if you run the hoover does the blocked light still come on?

do you have a roller brush on the bottom? my hoover lost most of its suction, i checked filter, bag, took the hose off, poked a broom handle along it and rinsed it with water before re-assembling and it still didnt work. pulled the brush bit of the bottom by accident while the hoover was on ( got it stuck under a chair :o) and you could hear the increase in suction. checked the brush bit, and there was a huge hair an dust ball stuck behind the roller bit, so everytime i switched the hoover on, it sucked this hairball over the hole, blocking the suction

Is it under guarantee? Take it back if so, and don't be fobbed off with the 'it's the manufacturers problem' old cod - your contract of sale is with the organisation who has your money.

Bought a Vax for the m-i-l as she has three large fluffy cats. Blocked every single time she used it, took it back eventually - it was rubbish. Bought a little bug-like Morphy Richards for £50 and it's brilliant.

If it fecks up again, try getting your money back, then get a Dyson. You can dismantle them like a toy that's made to be dismantled. All snappy parts and stuff. Which I've needed to do a few times due to 'Hoover' Abuse*

*Not involving bodily parts and/or trips to A&E with unlikely sounding domestic accident stories.
