My Neighbour Totoro

It's cute but I found it a little boring.

I spent the whole duration of it waiting for something terrible to happen which just goes to show I'm ruined by years of formulaic storylines and can't quite cope with one where nothing bad happens - how unsettling :D

damn you bumpers, I posted here already!!!

Love it
Wife introduced me as she is a massive fan and we have a huge cotton poster hanging in the living room :)

absolutely adore totoro!
watched it when i was young when it came out in the far east.

i even had the totoro stuffed doll which would vibrate after you pull his tail  :D

I have watched the first half of this movie several times but for many reasons have never finished it :o

I well up at the end evey time. When the catbus destination flicks to say mai, it's boo hoo time.

Blimey I just shed a tear thinking about it as I typed.

Mr LJo just got back from Japan - now MiniLJo has all three Totoros!

We also have the picture book 'Mei and the Kitten Bus' which is all in Japanese, but hey, you can work out what's going on. It's a short they made specially for the Studio Ghibli museum. Where, incidentally, they have an enormous furry catbus. Apparently it's for the 'children'. Yeah, right.

We so wanted to see the film of "Mei and the Kittenbus" when we visited the Studio Ghibili Museum but instead a complelling but slightly indecipherable film about a boy finding/growing a universe

Totoro, to-toro!
Totoro, to-toro!

I watched this again the other night and haven't been able to get the Totoro song out of my head since.

I have had it permanently in my head since I first watched the film around three years ago. It's one of Idioteques favorite things to sing when she gets excited, and we have our own version with lyrics far too ridiculous and embarassing to post.

If I was also a bus, I would have a similar expression.

Eh!? They think there's something awful happened to their mother and the little girl runs away and they can't find her! How is that not terrible!?
