My neighbour caught me hoovering my garden

I think the fact the OP was hoovering at night also serves to propel them further into the strange/obsessive/eccentric gardner category.

In fact it makes me feel a lot better about my accidentally joining the ranks of those weirdos who grow "big veg" last year! :D

Although the best one I can think of was at a party, where the guy who lived next door was out there gardening furiously but trying to look inconspicuous at about 2/3am - Of course, his teenage daughter was in there whooping it up with the rest of us! :D

I wasn't hoovering - not indoors anyway  i'm a bit embarrassed about this thread now I wish I hadn't admitted it :(

This has made me remember that my mates dad vacuumed* her garden.

*Is that spelt wrong or am I just so used to hoovered that my brain is rebelling?

No, not indoors! :D

Nonsense! - Do you really think you are going to be allowed to live this down now though? Besides, you have undoubtedly brightened-up many friday afternoons.

:D

Why not...

Its your garden, hoover it if you wish!!

There is a garden near me that is so perfect I expect the owner shampoos the grass!

Although technically you are "vacuuming" rather than "hoovering" .. Hoover being a make of vacuum cleaner ..

Am I the only one thinking Yard Brush + Pan, 30 second job?

I did try that earlier but I explained in my op that I have some massive pots that are hard to get round with a brush and very heavy to lift - the vacuum did it good and proper - but I've just got home from work and there's leaves all back there again :( I'm proper pissed off now :(

Would you feel better to know that there are others like you out there?

My mother once tried to mow her bedroom carpet. :hmm: :D

Shall I start a support group? Hi I'm Ruby and I like to vacuum my garden :hmm: we could all meet in my garden and have a good vacuum sess afterwards :D Like minded people who are fed up of being marginalised by society

Of course you should hoover your garden dressed in evening dress by twilight!

its got to be right ..

unless, of course, she is actually using a different type of "vacuum" than an actual "Hoover"...then she should "vacuum" her garden dressed in an evening dress ;)

now that would also be right...

:p

Well the last time she has uterred she has been using the "vacuuming" word so perhaps .....

She is actually "electroluxing!"

I belive the first commercially available (I give it about 2 hours max before someone tells me I'm wrong ) vacuum cleaner was made by Goblin and I've long though it would have been mildly amusing if that had caught in in the way hover did.

I'm just getting the Goblin out
I'll just give the floor a quick gobble.

<Shug> Bet it just me though,

I've got one of those leaf blowing/sucking machines. They're not that good (at least mine isn't) if the ground is damp, as it's not powerful enough to blow/suck the leaves. It's also noisy as fuck.

I usually wait for a dry day and mow the lawn.

My mum and I once caught my dad hoovering the waterfall that goes in to the pond in their garden.

We were stood by the patio doors laughing for ages before he noticed and got quite cross with us :D

Water and electrical goods

I was always told water AND electrical items don't mix :D

Hoovering water? :D

There was no water running down it at the time (although I wish there had been as it would have made the situation sheer lunacy).

He was getting rid of the crap so when switched on it wouldn't block the pump, which is a very legitimate reason but we didn't know this at the time and he just looked like a crazy old man, which he is! :D

Oh and ETA, he had not long before spent loads of money on one of those leaf blowers that sucks as well and didn't think to use that!
