How did you find upgrading...? Glad its working for you...! :D

I didn't upgrade from Breezy to Feisty when I got my new lappy I got a friend to install the latest Ubuntu on it. All I've got to do is the tweaking.

Next time you could try (back-up your data first...!) upgrading from Feisty --> Gutsy. That way you don't have to spend time re-tweaking...

True, 'nuff -- tho' KBJ might have /home on a separate partition. It's worked a treat for me.

More than that though, there's far less tweaking needed with Feisty than Dapper -- the codecs etc are fetched as and when you need them. Very neat :)

I found installing RealPlayer a cinch when compared to Breezy. Still falls over on the BBC site though but accesses other files OK.

Installed it through the Terminal because I couldn't find the tool / programme I wanted in Synaptic.

Played about with Ubuntu last week. The install was simple and it was simple enough to use. My main gripe with it is that it looks fucking ugly. Couldn't they give it a better desktop theme to start with.

Anyone who says that jumping from windows to ubuntu is as easy as falling off a log and you'll never look back is deluding themselves, more so with other linux distros.

I like the idea of linux, I have installed it on a machine but for everyday use I'll be sticking to XP for the foreseeable future.

Where has anyone ever said that...? Switching to any distro involves a learning (and a un-learning) curve...

Thats what I'm finding. Stuff that was intuitive with Macs and PC's needs to be re learned with linux.
