You are married to a wise man, Shirl. I've been an advocate of merino leggings/long johns for years. Silk ones too, much less bulky - more like tights.

I've had a slight fungal infection that comes and goes (not in the groin area but on my upper calf) it took me quite some time to realise it appeared in winter with the thermals and wearing of.So I figured from that if you wore them continuously you'd possibly be consumed by fungal infections.

One winter when I was about 15 I went to football and one of the lads mentioned he had borrowed his mum's tights for under his jeans. We never let him hear the end of it.

These days I have got two pairs of long johns for watching football in winter. The M&S ones are very good, the BHS ones not so good when it's really cold.

Loads of blokes wear tights on the building sites during the winter... not usually something they like to broadcast :)

My husband gets all my old leggings to wear under his work clothes, he's out on site in all weathers.

I find tights are no good when it's really cold as they tend to constrict the feet/toes and make them colder.
Leggings and good socks are much better.
So I am assuming that long jons are better than man tights. :hmm:

I wear Long Johns every day for five months of the year. I am dead manly too. :p

BTW, long johns don't have feet. If they have feet they are tights and are for woosies.

Arthritic pain is not good. Has your place got a bath? (just lots only have showers now) If it does get some ginger oil and mix it with some veggie oil(5 drops oil per 10ml mixer) and put some in a warm bath. Helps ease the pain :) Eating ginger is good too.

I didn't know they existed until he bought them. He also bought a pair of red cotton and lycra long johns with white stars on them and a pair of red merino wool long johns.
He's going to be warm this winter.
Do any other men here have man tights? Or is my old man a sucker for good marketing?
Yeah, posting a photo of me in a car park last week.

my guy wears these dark blue things that look and feel like yoga pants..maybe a little looser than women's yoga pants but not much. I find them very appealing :D

It's just him :p

Didn't Giggsy wear a pair for a game once?

Shirl I think long johns will be more effective than man tights. I believe my Dad used to wear tights to work in winter until he got some long johns.

I did once buy him a bodywarmer that had a battery powered warmth system too. It's a touch suicide bomber but Wolfie might like
