If you're on a low income I'd think about switching to Ebico. As far as I know it's the only not for profit energy provider.
It's a shame they don't offer incentives to 'recommend a friend' I'd be quids in!

Have just done so ann .i did change supplier but found the supplier i chosse was still british(greedy)gas.thanks muchly

Already with Ebico for gas, stayed with EDF for the electricity (even though Ebico do allow payment by powerkey) but got put on the social rate for that last week (seems it's been available for approx 5 years, thanks for not letting us know, even when husband is listed as being disabled 
).

You can get 20 watt ones. I believe even more powerful ones are finding their way into the shops for those who insist on lighting high-ceilinged rooms with a single pendant lamp.I found with them low energy bulbs they were not bright enough and my eyesights not what it was !!poor old git!!

I think you may find that the current generation of low energy bulbs have got a lot better.
I've just redecorated & as part of that, replaced all the lamps - Even on midrange prices (the real cheapo ones are still pretty poor) I was very impressed by how much better the more modern lamps are & the quality of light is significantly better too.

Violent, like you my council flat is fully insulated and energy efficient – barring me just turning off the gas and electricity; sitting in the dark and cold, wondering will it be long and drawn out, or just me nodding off into oblivion.
As for DLA, the Motobility car takes care of mobility element; while the £82.00 per week I pay towards my care package more than wipes out the care component. Therefore, even Purnell can’t expect me to use my DLA twice, once for care and again for heating – can he.

Yes I wrote to him on behalf of my father on the same issue.
The prat wrote back telling me about insulation. I wrote him another letter recently re-iterating what I said before; that DLA is for disabilities not for fuel and should not be counted in the calculation for Fuel Poverty.
He has yet to reply.
