still feeling a bit deflated about it all (especially the cost of yet more lessons), but i'm going to forget about it for the weekend and then start all over again on tuesday. it's good to hear that other people take more than one go to pass...!

MOST people don't pass first time, I think....

I think you know you're ready to pass when everything has become automatic ie. you've had plenty of practice time as well as lessons and you don't have to think about how to do stuff or what you're doing, or what lane to be in at junctions/roundabouts etc.....

And if you're already at that level, then failing is usually just due to back luck (ie. really unpredictable things happening).

I failed first time, for driving over a crossroads without looking , but I found the lessons I had between the first and second a lot easier, much more relaxed, once I knew what I had to do. I was like a different driver.

My brother passed first time and wrote off a car a week later... as did my mate I was out with last night and a girl I went to school with... they were all really lucky to walk away! The girl ended up being cut out of her car..

here we go again. second test at 3pm today,

haven't had a huge amount of lessons, more out in our car with adrienne supervising. it's gone ok i think - drives there and back to brentford, sutton, hampton. so lots of experience there. but i've neglected the manouvers. hopefully they'll be ok.

i dunno. i don't know how i feel about this one. i know the area better, so that's got to help. we'll see...!

but i failed.

and i really thought i'd passed. it all seemed to go fine. i got a serious fault for not looking over my right shoulder early enough during the reverse around a corner. i looked over my right shoulder, but too late apparently. so serious fault, instant fail.

when my driving instructor heard this afterwards, he said a bad word. he says it should have been a minor fault. if it had been a minor fault, i'd have passed.
