Mutoid Waste: Mutate Britain; 21st Nov, 4 weeks

Just been and had a look. I thought it was OK. A lot of the sculpture was really cool, although it would probably be a lot better somewhere like Glastonbury. Quite a lot of the paintings were pretty poor though - cliched smug alternative stuff. Is using Mickey Mouse in a picture really still clever in some way?

Overall worth a look still but not great for me.

Went to this tonight. I loved many of the sculptures and covet them. The paintings largely passed me by.

Luckily my photos haven't come out well - no flash combined with darkish rooms highlighted by bright directional lights = low quality - as looking at them will hopefully dissuade me from buying one priced at £15,000. I did the sums while I was there and it would add approximately £118 per month to my mortgage repayments. Of the smaller sculptures the one I love most is much more expensive than most of an equivalent size. Perhaps it won't sell and I can bargain with them.

It is with much regret and not a little relief that I have to inform the thread I have decided not to increase my mortgage by £15000 to buy the delectable sculpture I saw last night. Not just because buying something I can't afford that will increase my mortgage repayments by 25% is a very stupid idea indeed. In fact not because of that at all. :o I have realised that even if I did get rid of my hanging basket chair it would take up so much room in my modestly proportioned living room and you still wouldn't be able to view it in its full glory.

I'm still thinking that if ''wheelie'' hasn't been sold for the disproportionate amount the artist wants for it, when compared to ones of a similar size, I might put a cheeky offer on it...

reckon there's any chance they'll extend this?
can't afford to come up in the time frame

add a wee chunk more onto your mortgage and extend your flat to accommodate the sculpture
then again, maybe not :hmm:

I had a great time on saturday!

Fell in love with one or two of the robots as well. :o

I WANT that bed on the top floor!

How did people get outside upstairs BTW? Out the window or another way? :hmm:

Gonna pop back, cos some of it changes every week doesn't it?

No it wasn't actually but they were good!! Will sort out my pics later, it was two little robots, (on a plinth downstairs) looking at each other, and generally being in love :o:D
They were ace! Looked like they were made out of those old style mincers.
