Murder at junction of Moorlands Rd and Coldharbour Lane, Brixton

I don't understand why kids rob and attack mostly people of their own age group. Why don't they attack older people like me who are fat and crap at fighting and probably have more stuff worth nicking? I've only known one guy personally who's ever been mugged. I stroll around Brixton's back streets at all hours and have never once felt remotely threatened. My female friends are fairly casual about these things too - and some of them are tiny.

I was the ideal target for rudeboys. I'm white, conspicuously middle class, I look nervous, and I carry/ride a skateboard. My brother never got much trouble. It depends who you are. I think looking nervous gets you robbed because you look like an easy target. Still, its like you said: I never had any money to give them. The most they ever got off me was a tenner. But the usual mug harvest was about 75p. Pointless.

Wel, I'm white and conspicuously middle class too. I used to live on the Guinness estate at the top of Somerleyton Road and all my white middle class friends said 'ooh, never use your phone in public, and don't wear that nice leather jacket, you'll never last 5 minutes, etc, etc'. But nothing ever, ever happened. Even when staggering home pissed through that little underpass under the railway line. I don't get it. Maybe mugging is mostly a form of territory marking. And people like me are just part of the scenery, rather than competing males.
