Mugging at gunpoint in Railton Road

awful story i am really sorry for this guy :(

i used to live around those streets about 8 years ago and always thought this stretch on railton rd where the adventure playground is was/is spooky!

it is a real shame that we can't walk around really freely in brixton. i make arrangments if it is really late. or in fact usually i cycle everywhere it feels safer to me...

Isn't it just; I remember walking to Ms T's for the first time before I lived in Brixton, it was only about 6.30pm but winter and after dark and I was quite scared!
But just recently having lived round that area for nearly a year I was reflecting how it was obviously just fear of the unknown back then and how nice it is that I'm generally feeling really safe on my walks home, and now this...:(

They don't seem to be awfully good at stopping this sort of thing - despite what we're forever being told - do they?

The main use for cctv cameras that i've seen is in providing footage for progs like Streetcrime UK.

I thought about this when walking down Railton Road the other day and it made me look over my shoulder. Which is silly really - I'm sure gun muggings rarely strike the same place twice, like lightning.

Fuck they demanded his PIN and adress so they could follow up if he lied? That's pretty fucking scary, if someone got my PIN they'd have every cent I owned the first ATM they found. Fuck. Even if they didn't demand his adress they could pretty easily get it with his drivers licence.

Is there any sort of insurance against this? Like bank compensation, or even a verbally clever way of tricking them without setting yourself up for a fall?

Most banks cover you for fraudulent use of your card, unless you have been grossly negligent in revealing your PIN.

By no stretch of the imagination could this be considered 'gross negligence' :D :(

My guess is he would be covered.
