MPs expenses - what should they get

Were they HoC accommodation? I've been trying to remember who told me that there were various flats already that were available for visiting MPs.

Don't think so. Dolphin Square was partly flats and a hotel. I understand that MPs tended to pay less than market rents for the flats.

I wonder how they got them at less than market rates?

I'd build them an accommodation block at Surrey Quays/Canada Water. Couple of stops on the Jubilee Line to work. Cheaper to buy/build. Added employment in the area.

How about a few 'prison' ships on the Thames? You know, weld a few containers together...

:D

Actually, they should just invest in some decent teleconferencing equipment and negate the need for them to leave their constituencies at all.

It is quite common for employees working away from home to be provided with susbsistence money or money for dinner. Yeah, I know, I've never had a job that does that either, but there are plenty of them.

When I was an apprentice we were expected to work anywhere in the country and we'd get £15 a night for digs. If we could find somewwhere that threw in breakfast for that price it was a bonus. It was a while ago though! :D
