That wouldn't surprise me at all. Bear in mind that a hell of a lot of MPs are lawyers. If they have a right to a particular expense they are more likely to know and to know how to make sure they get it than the rest of us are. I'm pretty certain I've been ripped off by employers before now.

Some of the discrepancies between what they get and what the rest of us get are down to MPs being greedy bastards, however a lot are down to employers on the whole being greedy bastards too.
