I think our compost bin may have encouraged rats.
It's on an allotment but it's still gonna be a problem if they get established. i've searched on the web and it says dry compost is much loved by rats for nesting and they love overgrown areas around bins and they love egg shell and rice too.
Which leaves my allotmenteer buddies and I in a quandrie if flatten the wild life area which is what we hoped our overgrown bit would be then we lose some of our wildlife but we also discourage the rats....
