Mourinho's been sacked

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11668_2747310,00.html

Report: Grant assigned a week ago
Jose replaced before he had left

In another twist to the saga at Stamford Bridge, it has been reported that Avram Grant was preparing to take over from Jose Mourinho as Blues boss a week ago.

It is believed Grant, who was confirmed as Chelsea boss just 12 hours after Mourinho's exit, had contacted the boss of Israel's coaching set-up last week to try and obtain a pro licence.

The Daily Mail have broken the news that Grant knew in advance what would be happening at Stamford Bridge but the former Israel coach insists he did not do anything behind Mourinho's back.

So much for 'mutual consent' !!!!

I reckon Abramovich should do a Ron Noades and do it himself.

i was thinking about that earlier, can anyone remember how he did and how long he lasted?

Priceless, absolutely fucking priceless, Terry showing his true colours. Couldn't happen to a nicer club.

JT [according to Sky] said that these stories were untrue and was talking of legal action.

What a woeful game that was, though. Belletti is an attacking player - why was he not on? Or Alex - who would have done better than Ben Haim? Interesting snippet about it
United keeper Edwin van der Sar did not have a shot to save and with only one point from their last three games, Grant will need to show managerial qualities some way better than those on his CV if he is to deliver the title to Roman Abramovich next May.

so Sheva did a great job tonight.

After the game Grant was asked about his coaching licences, which take 12 months to get, and he hasn't even the two basic courses done. He said that other people would sort that out within the 3 months he gets to prove he's got them. He only applied to do them the week before Jose was sacked. Maybe that's why Jose's assistant has been kept on - at least he's qualified. Maybe he thinks Abramovich is gonna buy them for him for a couple of million.

I imagine Ferreira was preferred after he marked Ronaldo out of the game in the cup final.

Well, he was totally ineffective yesterday - a bit like Sheva - who, it is reported, didn't touch the ball for 15 minutes at a time during the game.

Interesting that he has not updated his website [www.sheva7.com] since the rosenborg game - he usually updates it really quickly if anything happens at Chelsea - but he's had zilch to say about the change of manager or [so far] that pathetic excuse for a game yesterday.

Maybe I'm just being daft, but Israel and Russia are both in England's group - and Abramovich pays the wages of the Russian national coaches and [reportedly] offered the russian team large bonuses if they could beat England. Does no-one else think it odd that, at the most crucial point in the qualifiers, Chelsea's russian owner sacks the manager of a team with 6 members of the England squad, sending the team into disarray, and brings in the former Israeli national coach. Does no-one else think there's a conflict of interest here? Budding conspiracy theory?

If Gareth Southgate can do it, why not Grant? It's a shambles not doubt about it...and pretty much reveals what everyone else was thinking - that Roman runs the club surrounded by yes men, forcing players on a manager who didn't want them.

Explains the signings of Sidwell, Haim and Belletti.

Its romans toy and he'll do what he wants....couldn't care less, might as well have been millwall that he chose to invest in....know loads of Chelsea fans who whilst not minding the success, not happy about how it happened, i.e would have loved for them to do it off their own back as possibly was on the cards under Ranieiri. They view the club as not their own and lose faith with every day that passes and another f8ck up occurs:)

Were Chelsea the only club to make £17M profit in the transfer market. Robben wanted to stay but couldn't get the contract negotiations - Real were only too happy to do what Chelsea wouldn't. Most of the signings were free transfers, though I feel sorry for Malouda [c£8M], who only came to the Bridge because he wanted to work with Jose.

Chelsea have possibly made the worst transfers in and out over the past few years that I have ever seen.....mmmh got rid of Gallas wtf, Gudjohnsen, Robben, replaced them with Sidwell et al, laughable still if they've made 17mill is good business, they must be short of cash ...joke club joke fans....always be a ZDF winning outfit:)

Grant <3's Ben Haim because they worked together at Israel. I agree about it being woeful though, I was listening to the commentators wax lyrical about the quality of football and I had to sit there and wonder what fucking game they were watching, Shevchenko couldn't hit the broad side of a barn the when he got the ball, which wasn't often, Chelsea's wingers seemed to be isolated, although A. Cole did try to get down the left flank he usually ended up giving up a foul. As soon as Mikel got sent off I could see where the game was going, and even if he hadn't I'd have been shocked if the result was anything other than 1-0 or 2-0 to Man Utd.

I agree about the transfers - Malouda is the only really promising one of the recent batch - Arsenal must be laughing - getting Gallas and now Diarra from Chelsea. Robben was just a bloody disaster - it's not as if they needed the cash.

I take exception to the joke fans comment though - joke bloody owner and board more like.

On his day Robben's a great talent – unfortunately he is also horribly injury prone. We could do with him at the moment though, that's for sure...

Do you see Newcastle selling Owen, or MU selling Rooney, because of a tendency to injuries? Real wouldn't have bought him if they didn't think he'd be some use to them. I couldn't believe it when they sold him - after Jose had been assured that he was staying.

To be honest, I really don't think Robben was as important to Chelsea as Owen is to Newcastle and Rooney is to United. In fact, apart from the odd genuine bit of genius, my abiding memories of Robben will be of his frequently terrible final ball into the box, his tendency to get caught in possession (usually while trying to take on one man too many) and woeful shooting.

Would I have sold him? No, because for half a dozen games a season he was electrifying.

Do I understand why Chelsea sold him? Yep.

It's not just those, it's also the likes of Crespo, Duff leaving for next to nothing, they're a joke. I can't believe the reports of Abromovitch telling Essien how to play.

I'm surprised that Sheva translated for him - what does that confirm to the other players about Sheva? After all, Essien was the player of the year at the club last year - what could Roman possibly teach him?
Especially since Roman had no interest in football until he watched MU play Real in the CL 4 years ago - he thought he could buy a team like that as a toy? He should have bought himself a playstation football game - in the current spate of foreign owners, some other millionaire would have turned up for Chelsea.

Wasn't he playing for Newcasle last year - maybe he's just part of their massive injury list.

Diarra is certainly happy to have joined the Arsenal young guns - though I think he'd have had no problem with playing time in Chelsea at the moment.
But he was another £6M of profit in Chelsea's bottom line, which seems to be all that matters to them recently.

Seems right on the money to me. Which begs the question how will Jose get a job at a 'big' club, most of which also have owners/presidents with big egos - AC Milan (not that Ancelotti is going anywhere), Inter, Juve, Barca, Real. They all have a history of sacking successful coaches who decide to think for themselves.

He may have to learn to swallow his pride and realise that no one is bigger than the club.

I don't think it was his ego [he came to Chelsea as the winner of the CL - they knew what they were getting]. I think it was more the fans singing his name, the manager of the year awards, and the way people talked about him and not Abramovich when they talked about Chelsea's success. I think what Abramovich wanted was grateful fans thanking him for his money ad infinitum.
Cutting off the cash didn't work - they still won 2 trophies - so his rival had to leave.

Does he really think the fans will be more grateful to him now, with a nobody running things? I think he's just getting tired of this hobby.
