Motorcyclists blocking off roundabout

It was clearly deliberate judging by the selection of bikes stopped in front of the car and the way it was part turned as if to go around the bike directly infront. Those bikers at least are inconsiderate cunts.

There was possibly a very nasty bit of driving on the part of the car driver. That is what usually leads up to bikers blocking them in.

The thing is, blocking someone in when they are already enraged is inviting retaliation, isn't it?

I know that if I felt I was being deliberately trapped by an angry group of people getting a bit road-ragey on me, I would feel threatened, and if I felt threatened, my instinct would be to get out of the threatening situation by flooring the gas pedal and/or serving sharply to make them move/knock them off.

Yes. But if they have tried to kill one of the bikers, sense tends to go out of the window.

It sounds more likely that they had endangered both themselves and the motorist.

tbh when a driver cuts you up on a bike you do tend to lose your rag a bit and do "silly things" if said driver carries on trying to harm you its normally a good way for them to get a kicking.

[annecdote]

I remember one guy cutting up a groupl of us out for a ride, it was a white escort convertable. Crow (for that was his club name) pulled up alongside the guy and ripped his car arial off. when the guy gave him a gobful he got the arial shoved through his cheek.

[/annecdote]

pissing off a large group of bikers with your driving is not really a very sensible thing to do. even though you are in a car its normally a good way to ruin your day

That sounds like an excellent way to get a serious kicking :(

And you'd fucking deserve it too

I am not trying to defend it. It is one of the main reasons I won't ride in convoys except for a funeral.

Why would I "deserve it"? Would depend on the circs.

I said that if I was suddenly surrounded by and felt threatened by, a bunch of people on bikes deliberately boxing me in and trapping me, I may respond defensively to get out of being boxed in.

Fortunately in the real world, all of this sounds a tad "Mad Max" so it hopefully will never happen.

You feeling threatened doesn't give you IMO the right, morally or legally, to use potentially lethal force. I wouldn't object to you trying to get away if you were actually being assulted, or if someone started smashing their way into your car to get at you.

As I said, if it came to it, it would come down to what I felt: if I thought that the people concerned meant to do me harm and/or damage my vehicle, then all normal rules are suspended. That is my settlement with the world. Morals have little to do with it. But, hey, I can't see WHY anyone would want to act like that in the first place, so its probably a theoretical discussion.

Are you sure about the "legally" part? I thought that if you genuinely felt for your safety then you were allowed to act accordingly.

You'd have to keep it in proportion & ramming another road user - especially someone on a bike could well be seen as overdong it. Then you could find yourself hard pushed to justify it.

Stabbing someone in the face with a car arial. Warms the cockles of your heart doesn't it? With behaviour like that it's no wonder motorcyclists get a bad name for themselves.

At the extreme it may do legally. If you honestly believe that unlawful force is about to be used on you (or someone else) you may use such force as is necessary and reasonable (and you'd have to go some for it to be lethal force unless that is what you feared was about to be used on you) in order to prevent that anticipated assault.

This reminds me, i was on the M25 on sunday and suddenly the red lights started going off ahead of me. Traffic goes from 70/75 to 20 (in the outside lane), middle and inside lanes stop completely.

Anyway, this being the M25 i'm used to it, but when i carry on in my lane i spot a pack of bikers trapping some car in. It was clearly deliberate judging by the selection of bikes stopped in front of the car and the way it was part turned as if to go around the bike directly infront. Those bikers at least are inconsiderate cunts.

Maybe the car driver was / had been a cunt .......

I ride a bike and drive a car and see it from both sides the most annoying thing is when a car drivers cuts you up on your bike or pulls out in front of you and when you tell them that they are in the wrong they start giving you abuse, acting all hard ..... but as soon as you pull up beside them they just ignore you and shit themselves .......
A quick boot to the door soon sorts it out

Not sure, that's why I IMOed it.

Db has given the facts above

Even with the law as it is, I'd seriously hope that anyone who started wholesale ramming manouvers just because they felt threatened and in fear of their life because people were looking at them would be sent down for a very long time.

Problem is if the judge/jury is as reactionary as some of the tossers on here they'd probably get off :(

Or you could stab them in the face

If someone came alongside me on a bike and started hoofing the side of my car while we travelling at any speed, I would most likely swerve straight into him and see if I could knock him off.

You could try but you wouldn't even get close pal, but then you must have done something pretty stupid to even get in that position, which I am sure you would't do :)

You do realise that the best way to damage your vehicle would be to get aggro in that situation? Bikers are well known for kicking doors in when some fuckwit tries to kill them for having the nerve to be in a vehicle that can overtake them with ease and doesn't get stuck in traffic. And parks on the street for free. :p

Not to mention the dents caused when you use it as a murder weapon. And doing time.

Testosterone must be a terrible curse. :(

Moby Dick, copyright "Micky Fynn" (A busker who is a motorcyclist who got run over by a muppet using a mobile phone whilst driving)

Chorus
He said sorry mate I didn't see you, I was on my mobile phone
As your bike came crashing through my windscreen
I thought I had got me polyphonic tone

I like driving with me moby clamped up tight against me ear
I can chat to all me mates, who will do the steering?
While some muppet in the front seat changes gear

Chorus

Now I'll have to do a claim form, so someone else can pay for broken bones
It took a week to get your claret off my dashboard
and the rental won't replace my mobile phone

Chorus

Now that I can't text you when I'm driving, I'll have to use the laptop on my knee
So I can talk to all my mates in other cages, they can splatter other bikers they don't see,
"just like me" (spoken)

Chorus
Chorus

"oooh not another spinal board" (spoken)
