MotoGP 09

At least it wasn't at Laguna Seca, the thought of highsiding going into the Corkscrew is unappealing to say the least.

What's the condition of the riders?

Both allegedly well, Canapa was stretchered off though. This happened much earlier today of course, was just watching it on Eurosport. More info here:

edit: here is the collection of offs from today, the Hayden one is last (Canapa's earlier off is on there as well)

I'm surprised they were out on the circuit in those conditions, to be honest. There were some nasty offs there, by the looks of it.

Hayden crashed again this morning in Warm Up, apparently.

A good day for two wheeled motorsports today. 125cc starts in 20 mins, then 250cc, then MotoGP. The Superbikes later on.

Thankfully, it's raining so my own baba is staying covered this afternoon! :D

Simon won the 125s, fairly easily.

Simoncelli was peerless again on the 250, the Gilera was streets ahead once he passed DeBon.

Lots of talk about Lorenzo going to Honda, apparently he's turned down Fiat Yamaha's offer. I guess he wants to be #1 at a team, which isn't happening whilst he's partnered with Rossi...

Rossi wins by about a bikelength from Lorenzo.

If Jorge goes to Honda he is an idiot, there is no shame in being #2 to arguably the greatest motorcycle racer of all time.

Brilliant. Lorenzo and Rossi at the end, racing to the last corner.

Rossi wins again, by 0.09. If he gets the title, he'll have worked for it.

Dovizioso's laps on a completely fucked tyre were impressive, too. Insane, but impressive. :D

Anyone see the British Superbikes today? Josh Brookes out-Haydened Hayden with a crash that caused all six of the top six to crash. Wish I had watched it live instead of later on Eurosport..

edit: and here it is -

I think he's got talent but he's completely reckless and that move and others have been a danger to other comeptitors.

He has, apparently, snapped the bone in his thumb. 4-6 weeks out.

Yes... its just you watch the aftermath of that crash and there doesnt appear to be any indication at all that he has injured his hand. You would think that an injury that bad would be felt at the time.

I was thinking of this bit when I posted it...

The Yorkshireman said: “I didn’t have much feeling with the bike when it was full wet but it just kept drying out and I knew the bike set-up would suit the conditions better when it was drying up.

"So I didn’t think there was any point in coming if the track conditions were going to get better and I decided to stay out. I did a lot of laps in the mixed conditions in Germany last weekend and that really helped me out a lot today.

"I just kept improving and improving but unfortunately because I stayed out for the session I ran out of fuel right at the time when the track conditions were the best they had been for the whole hour.

but what I've seen since does make it sound like the team made the decision, rather than JT.

Sykes didn't crash, only Xaus. Probably not as bad as it first looked.

Fabrizio has just knocked himself and Spies off.

Biaggi leads WSB race 1...

Too flying, as it turns out.

Lorenzo down, too.

Rossi leading. Lapping Casey Stoner, who went out on wets in the dry.

Dovi 2nd. Amazing fight between Pedrosa and De Puniet for 3rd. :D
