Moths, bloody moths!!!!

do the pheromone traps work to get rid of food moths? I can't seem to get rid of them

There's different ones for clothes moths and different ones for food moths

The Aeroxon brand were the best I used, but unfortunately the most expensive.

You still have to get the female though as the traps only attract the males

thanks Minnie

You won't get rid of them if they've laid eggs somewhere. You have to go through all your cupboards and inspect EVERYTHING THOROUGHLY. Every bit of dried food (even if in a supposedly airtight container) needs investigating. Even cans. Boxes. Undersides of lids. I mean absolutely everything. I found more a few months ago in some porridge oats that were in a jar, and on undersides of lids. Since I got rid of them, no more have appeared. If I hadn't found those, it would have been the third year running.

They also seem to like laying eggs on the join between ceiling and wall. Oh, and on top of door frames and around strip lighting. If you have any paint peeling on ceiling, then scrape it off because they'll get under that as well

Oh, and I noticed that they'll often appear once the temperature tops above 20 degrees. Splat them as soon as you see them. Don't give them a chance to lay any eggs.

They're fuckers :mad::mad::mad:

Thanks for that image. I had literally just finished eating some cereal.

I can't get rid of the bloody moths either - I have both at the moment, clothes and food!

I got one of these last year as well

they seem to love untreated wood for laying eggs on, as well as grains and so on... our cupboard is a breeding ground :(

They love ANYWHERE!

Last year I found them on the underside of a rim of a baking sheet (metal), in a bag of sugar, in various sealable bags/containers (plastic), on underrims of loads of stuff, on top of an unopened tin of beans, on hinges inside cupboards, under the seams of unopened bagged stuff (ie. a pack of packet soup), but their favourite place was underneath all the peeling paint on the ceiling. I have now had wallpaper put up on ceiling after scraping all the paint off. Oh, and under lips of foil containers they liked as well.

They don't look like food moths and they're not in the kitchen much either.

Check underneath any rugs (especially anything with wool in it) under furniture, and under carpet at the edges if you have any. If you find what looks like fibre casings the approximate size of long grain rice then you've got the case making clothes moth... They're fuckers, if you have them you'll need to vacuum them up and keep doing it. Get rid of the vacuum bags pronto or they'll squirm back out and infest more rooms. Plus get yourself the zapper thing for the adults, they work really well.

Well, minor consolation it's not just our house then. The bastards ate a very expensive suit I'd only worn once, and don't have the money to replace. :(

Thanks for the tips people.

Bastards absolute barstards

I got rid of them about 5 years ago by freezing all of my clothes. When Mr Shakes moved in he re-introduced them and won't let me freeze all our clothes as he's worried about breaking the freezer!

The german pheramone traps are most effective but don't kill the eggs.

I've thrown out loads of my winter clothes now. They've got expensive taste too! Why don't they eat my cheap clothes?
