I think you need commentators but they should seek to frame the action on the field rather than be it.

Too right. There's too many commentators out there with one eye on the 101 greatest goals video, so they shout "Rooney" at the top of their voice eveytime he gets the ball.

My opinion of her? She was shit. Not because she's a female, but because she was shit at commentating.

Perhaps match of the day isn't the best place to practice. Didn't hear it, but if she's not that great a spell on local radio or similar may be a better idea than leaping into national television. I'm assuming she's been through an apprenticeship of sorts though, perhaps more needed.

can't say i found her anyworse than the rest of them, much better than the prick who used to commentate for Channel Five.

shes shit. So monotone no real change in voice even when a gaol goes in and she fucked up a few lines. Someone couldn't initially clear it and then it weas the bin the net etc etc.

Mourinho only played for some shite portugese teams as well. I don't think they were proffesional.

Most commentators are journalists, not ex-players. Thats were the pundits come in.

As far as I know, Mourinho's top-flight playing experience stops at being a U-21 reserve on the sides coached by his father. On one occasion, he resigned from Rio Ave after the board forced José to strip the kit off before a match.

Has she? No idea, don't listen to radio commentary as it does nothing for my nerves - for some reason the commentators always seemed a bit hysterical, usually when West Ham were under pressure. I remember one particular occasion when the commentator (Jonathan Pearce?) became incoherent with excitement after a long shot for a good 10 seconds, leading me to think we'd gone a goal down, only to eventually state that the ball had been cleared for a throw-in. I'd rather have slightly dull, monotonous commentary than that.
