It's a bit small minded to be picking out overrated bands in the blip that rock music is when almost every one of them could easily qualify already imo

Im not a fan of the artic monkeys or the smiths but I can see they had something. That band dohery was in and the other one he is in now are pretty overated. Terrible dross.

i can hear the Velvets easily in all the bands i listed - especially when you think of tracks like Sister Ray

Most majorly, I can hear them in one of my all time favourite bands, sonic youth, so even though I don't listen to the velvets that much, i still rate them as v.v. important iyswim
