Most Mediocre British Sportsperson Ever

Barry Sheene?
Steve Redgrave?

Barry Sheene? Mediocre????

ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Probably one of the least mediocre sportsmen this country has ever produced.

yeah, i know!

no bronze medal to go with all the grand slams he won!
So he didn't win any Grand Slams, doesn't make him mediocre. Mediocre wouldn't have made it past the secondround of Grand Slams.

Why is it that if you're not the absolute best at your chosen sport you're mediocre or a failure, rather than being pretty good, just not the best?

Because in Britain it's more fun to knock people down than to applaud their achievements.

See also the 'we're so crap at sport' comments following the two most successful Olympic medal hauls since just after WWI in 2000 and 2004

No

Tim Henman was definately mediocre!
especially compared to the amount of press coverage he got!

for someone who can keep himself in and around the top ten in the world for the amount of time he did, without even getting to one grand slam final!
That to me is mediocre he won nothing (apart from 1 master tourney, WOW!).
He wasn't a winner, he'd ALWAYS fail at the last hurdle. Yes he was capable of playing some excellent tennis, and certainly had the potential to win some things, but he didn't, EVER! Thats what makes him mediocre!

so sorry, but I totally disagree with you!

mediocre enough to win an Olympic Bronze medal at 400m hurdles at the age of 33

dunno why I'm replying tbh, the above comment is utterly nonsensical. He was a world champion in a team which knocked the US relay team off their perch for the first time in years.

Now a celebrity landlord speaking at an event to campaign against what they call the "Tenant Tax" (i.e. stopping higher rate taxpayer landlords claiming mortgage interest as an expense at the higher rate) :

"Kriss Akabusi MBE
From humble beginnings as an orphan raised by abusive parents, Kriss went on to become a world-champion athlete, TV personality, leading keynote speaker and passionate landlord. He is deeply concerned by the Tenant Tax and will be sharing his personal views as a landlord, the potential impact it will have on his tenants and the action steps he is planning to take. He will also share his key learnings from both his successes and failures in sport and life and will deliver an uplifting, inspiring and very practical key note presentation. "

It seems to be a rule that at any time the England team must have a midfielder who embodies the essential mediocrity of English football. Someone who's big and strong and runs around a lot, who can look decent in a certain light with good enough players around him but that everyone knows is ultimately a bit shit. The sort of player who you could kick a ball across any park in Spain and it would be controlled by someone with better basic ball skills.

Jordan Henderson currently occupies that position as well as anyone ever has.

The 2003 England world cup winning team.

Somehow managed to win the cup without ever playing exciting rugby.:(
