most disappointing album

i found both the Grinderman album and Dig Lazarus Diz by the normally fabulous Nick Cave, hugely disappointing.
I loved the Grinderman album (and gig) but I agree about Dig Lazarus Dig, which apart from about 3 songs sounds like Nick Cave by numbers.

It's interesting, the 'no good bands about' thing.

I think there's lots of good music about, but I agree, at the top level there aren't the Nirvanas/Blurs/Verves/Oasises (can't stand Oasis myself, but you know what I mean) etc.

I tend to find good music by playing something on last fm and then seeing what they recommend that sounds like it and then downloading. Can lead to some good stuff, but it's a bit of a cul de sac at times.

I demand that everyone gets into Made Out of Babies!

Music has changed, and I am kind of glad there are no 'top bands'.

Instead there we have access so much more music than ever before. Tastes are not defined by who the biggest bands are, but what you are willing to go out and find and listen to you.

Or something.

The new Kings of Leon album is shite compared to their others. One good song, i only bought it cos i had a voucher and what a let down.

The first Gomez album was awesome, still love the turbo mix of whippin' piccadilly, but the rest is pretty poor.

I heard the Glasvegas album today and thought it was shite. Because of the hype I was expecting the Bunnymen produced by Spector or a 21st century JAMC. Instead I got sweary Proclaimers on valium. An utterly forgettable pile of panda wank.

I downloaded one track from it based on the JAMC comparison, I too found it very much lacking.

Loads of Princes have been glorious - but lots have disappointed.

Graffitti Bridge was really disappointing follow up to batman - but it DID have the amazing Thieves in the Temple and Joy in Repitition - two fantastic songs that he also played at the O2 last year

*Remembers *Hi tanky and foo ;)* and faints*

So, so many of Prince's albums following Graffitti Bridge have been - by Princely standards - hopeless, and I say that as a massive fan.

I have heard everything from the list below most of the ones after Batman are not that good - with the notable exceptions of Musicology, Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic - whose theme song was done in the Batman heyday - The Gold Experience, New Power Soul (fantastic - this shocked me) - and one of his very best masterpieces - and the last album he made as 'Prince' prior to recent - Come.
