Morrissey is going to be on Desert Island Discs this Sunday

hmm not very satisifying - I love his music but as a person he's just annoying and hard to know how much to believe really. Also thought his musical selection whilst containing some ok tracks as a pointer to his influences pretty much sucked...I loved listening to the VU and Nico as much as the next man in my teenage years, but on a desert island? no way.

:D

I just caught it on the iPlayer. Great to hear him so relaxed and even chatty - some credit for which must go to Kirsty Young (liked her description of her own reaction to The Smiths first appearance on Top of the Pops).

I'm glad he's reached that st/age of life. Worth 45 mins if you have the time.

I listened. I used to be a massive Smiths fan and I do regularly play some of his solo stuff online. I did find him a bit annoying and contrarian in person. I don't think I would get on with him personally which makes me a bit sad as I do admire him.

I found his comments on vegetarianism very moving. He said he didn't want to live in a world where there are abbatoirs. Which made me question my own meat eating habits.
