Morrissey collapses on stage

The 50-year-old former Smiths frontman, who has cancelled a number of gigs due to illness this year, came onstage looking drawn, and greeted fans with the words: "Good evening ... probably."

Members of the 1,000-strong audience at the Oasis Leisure Centre said he sounded strained as he performed his song "This Charming Man", then slumped to his knees and was dragged offstage by members of his band.

We were going monday and next tuesday. Third and fourth for us. He hates me too. I don't think I'm going to get the chance to see him again now. He clearly can't keep touring. :(

A friend of mine has gone from here to London to catch his Monday gig. She bought the tickets right after the money from the previous gigs Mozza cancelled was refunded.

That joke isn't funny anymore

Its too near the bone and too close to home.

Wonder if he has some underlying condition, the lad is ill a lot huh? (and i don't mean that)

Just had a huge conversation about how brilliant he is in the pub tonight, and now this.

Get well soon Mozza

Another 50 year old performer getting into trouble ...

I saw Prince on French TV recently ... seems like he limits himself to just the odd gig these days ...

Yep, get well soon Mozzer. I didn't mean to upset anyone with my dig at his voice (I'm clearly not a fan of his singing, but it was an inappropriate time).

I do want him to outlast Thatch for one thing...

the Govt will be hoping he does the same again. Last night on BBC 5 radio a postie was on the phone in and just started laying into Adam Crozier and all the backhanders he gets (cushy pension etc) when hey presto the host said "i'll have to stop you there, it's off to such and such who was at the Morrisey gig"... the geezer never did get a chance to continue..

I've just phoned See as we've got tickets for tomorrow and next monday (a re-scheduled gig) and they haven't been given any info about his condition or whether any of the tour is going ahead. Hopefully they should know something tomorrow.

I feel really sad that he's poorly and absolutely gutted too. This is the third time we have had gigs cancelled so I haven't managed to see him since 2006. :(

without wanting to uspet anyone who's missed out through cancellations, i have to say that last night he pulled it off very well. didn't notice any problems with his voice, and he seemed in fine form. the band were great, too. we were in a good spot - down in the middle quite near the front. never been to the albert hall before. i liked it. some of the crowd could have done with being a bit more up for it, though. and i am now the proud owner of a morrissey scarf. it's a football style one, in blue and some sort of dark red, maybe a claret. dunno why he's chosen aston villa's colours
