the whole 1st album you'll recognise all of the tunes even if you don't know them. plus when massive attack were good was cos of tricky (except mezzanine which he wsnt on which is alright)
what was the first album called?

is that from a book?

honestly, calling tricky on form uninteligble and unmemorable says more about you than tricky

the 1st two albums are soundtracks to what films should be. post apocalyptic and optimistic and beautiful

fuck off, he's a Wester, I tend to assume people from down there are arseholes until proven cool (fizzer is proven cool btw)

I did nearly edit it and put "unless they're a City fan!!"....

I think the phrase you're looking for is 'too polite' :)

pre millenium tension is a classic album, and tricky (persona and music) fills my urban soul. Though the other half of me is a new romantic and morrisey personifies this. I can't decide as when the mood takes me either will come out on top.

Genius stuff as ever :D :D :D

Morrissey for me - even when Tricky was on form (which was a fairly brief period) it was all a little limited, despite making some fantastic tracks along the way.

we have a winner

I said charles, don't you ever craze
To appear on the front of the daily mail
Blessed in your mother's bridal veil ?
Oh ...
And so, i checked all the registered historical facts
I was shocked into shame to discover
I am the 18th pale descendant
Of some old queen or other

Oh, has the world changed, or have i changed ?
Oh has the world changed, or have i changed ?

Some 9-year old tough who peddles drugs
I swear to god
I never even knew what drugs were
So, i broke into the palace
With a sponge and a rusty spanner
She said : "i know you, and you cannot sing"
I said : "that's nothing - you should hear me play piano"

maxinequaye is a fine fine record ffs.
I tried listening to it again recently, and I was left wondering why I thought it was so great when it first came out. I found it rather boring, to be honest. It's good when you're stoned, maybe that's the difference, seeing as I don't do that anymore - unlike back then!

as it's urban, that bloody moz will win..... ;)

yeah, cos he's really soaring ahead there in the vote, a typical example of how much urban loves morrissey compared to everyone else  :p ;)

Ooh age is gunna play a massive factor here me thinks.

*awaits the old crinklies to gaffaw at tricky*

wrong!!

i'm a wrinkly and i ain't guffawing. i love tricky.

shut it milesy. :p

as much as i'm a fan of Tricky's stuff and have most of it. he really pisses me off in that he's never given Martina deserved and proper credit for her part. and without her voice, it would suffer big time. in fact, his music just wouldn't be anywhere near as good imo.

dub, i've shamed you so many times that I'm beginning to get a guilt complex.

Whining moaning sixth form doggerel revered as poetry enveloped by sub-par rockabilly vs unintelligable quasi mystical bong infused nonsense enveloped by some interesting beats and samples.
Perhaps Morrissey should choose his accompanyment a little more wisely.

i think mozza has a great accompanying band. and i think it's wrong to call it "sub-par" rockabilly because i don't think it's trying to be out-and-out rockabilly. sure it has a rockabilly edge at times, that's understandable innit - but it's not a rockabilly band per se.
