More proof that "audiophiles" are fuckwits

As long as the strings aren't recessed, the mid's rolled off and the high badly presented, then i'm all for itz.

This might seem like *bollocks*, but having spent many an hour listening to the various interconnects available the only conclusion is to *trust your own ears*. If YOU think it makes a difference then trust YOUR judgement.

If you think that different interconnects make a difference to the sound you're rather deluded.

I hereby offer you the entire contents of my recording studio if, in a controlled double blind test, you can tell the difference between any of them.

Oh, and James Randi will also give you a million dollars :)

Up for it? :)

A multi channel amp. Great, more interference between channels, common power supplies etc. There's loads of power amps (whether mono or what not) that will do the trick. That Denon is just for convenience: all in one box.

Yeah I'd rather have 5 Krell Evolution 402's, but their $15,000 each.

Yeah, but loads of decent monoblocs for a mere $2000 each.

London is not a great place for a lot of hi fi 'cos the rooms are just too small and you're too close to the neighbours. :(

what a fucking PRAT :D:D

"Highly Recommended.”

"In extended listening sessions, I found the cables' greatest strength to be its PRAT. Simply put these are very danceable cables. Music playing through them results in the proverbial foot-tapping scene with the need or desire to get up and move. Great swing and pace—these cables smack that right on the nose big time."

Pace, rhythm and timing. Essential stuff. you know it when you hear it.

But I can get a bit of copper cheaper than that.

Laughable ain't it, your cd is going to be out of time if you don't buy our speaker cables for $7k

I am up for it. Random chance may smile upon me?

Does it open the soundstage and make the bass transparent?

Yes, though while the effect's not readily available to objective physical measurement, international experts have estimated the extent of the audio-psychological enhancement to be as much as 46 dB/cu m.

When these fucking morons pay umpteen squillian quid for a gold plated, oxygen free, blessed by the Chief Rabbi interconnect what do they think holds all of the components together on the circuit boards?

1) Gold

2) Oxygen free copper

3) A faith in god

4) Good old electrical solder

When one of my dogs chewed through a speaker cable (this was when I used to have a decent Hi-Fi) I temporarily repaired it with ordinary household cable. Do you want to make a guess at how much difference it made?

Yep!

Fuck all.

I found a big reel of 13amp mains cable laying on a pavement once, so that's what I used for ages.

Well I'm sitting here in front of a spiders nest of three quid audio cables and adaptors from Maplin, a 12 channel Behringer mixer a twenty year old Rotel amp I got for £30 (only one input channel works hence the mixer) and a pair of 50w Sony bookcase speakers and it sounds just fucking fine :)

If anyone can show me a rig that will make JJ Burnell belting out the bass solo to Genetix sound twenty grand's worth of better I'll eat a Fender Precision without brown sauce. :)

That PWB site is great -
The edges of C.D., Video and vinyl discs are a prominence which have assumed an extremely strong Violet energy pattern. Inducing onto the edge of these discs a 'friendly' morphic resonance pattern is highly beneficial.
...and you should put a crystal and a spirit catcher by the window to help the vibes, maaan.

I'm sure I read somewhere about fuckwits who cut one corner of album covers off and colour the edge of CDs in with green marker pen because it makes them sound better. I think the 'logic' is that CD players use a red laser and so green being the 'opposite' of red stops the light leaking out of the side. Morons.

I also seem to remember something about the magical audio power of the number three although I can't remember whether it was good or bad.

To these twats physics is just something that happens to somebody else.

Wasn't it you who said you can spot an engineer by the fact that somewhere in the conversation the words "These are fucking Black Spur aren't they?" will crop up?

:D

What kind of music do audiophiles listen to?

I've often wondered that.

I have a feeling that as a rule they don't really have any great interest in the music just a rather unhealthy fetish for the equipment.

Part of the utter insanity of the whole thing is the idea that it's necessary or even just desirable to spend twenty grand on a Hi-Fi to listen to a guy playing a six hundred quid bass guitar because it is supposed to bring out all of the subtle nuances. It's just nonsense.

Do they really think that all of the wiring in a studio from the windings of the pick-ups or mic coils through to the final output are gold or something? Of course they bloody aren't it's pretty much copper all the way in one form or another. Or silicon I suppose.

It's a bit like insisting tap water tastes better if you drink it from a Victorian cut crystal glass.

What kind of music do audiophiles listen to?

Dire Straits.

Seriously, have a google around for "audiophile" forums, in particular sites about turntables. They seem to spend their time "tweaking" their expensive systems using recordings as refrences rather than, well, music.

Priceless are the comments like... "I made my wife fart in the corner and the whole soundstage sprang to life"
