Morally reprehensible films that you think are shit

Good Luck Chuck with Jessica Alba.

Positively the most abysmal, foul, stinking, foetid, rotten film Ive ever seen.

When i was 10, there was only one kid on my estate who had a video in his home, so naturally we all became is best mate rather sharpish even though he was ghastly. His mum used to seemingly just pick films for us at random and with her eyes closed i imagine. She's bung the film in the video and just leave us to it. One such filmic delight was I Spit On Your Grave. Aged 10!. 'fucks sake.

pretty woman, sex and the city are both totally morally reprehensible.
Cannibal Holocaust is a pretty good film bereft of any morals maybe, but then the title does give it away.

I wasn't thinking of that so much as the ridiculous arab caricatures...
Wallah! Blood-thirsty Arab caricatures are ten a penny in Hollywood! Any number of films could be pulled up on that criteria.

It takes special kind of film to make a husband hide in the shadows and make his unknowing wife strip, with the implicit threat of sexual assault.
*two thumbs up Mr Cameron*

My favourite Pretty Woman story involves an actress (Parker Posey I think) going for the audition and being asked to do the scene again only more "up"

She replied along the lines of "This girl's been giving blowjobs in parking lots for 20 bucks a pop, how can that possibly be "up""?

Director "Yeah but she hasn't been doing it for long".

--------

Reality Bites. Ben Stiller's directorial debut. Wiona Ryder pines after pretentious wanker and asshole Ethan Hawke, cause he's deep and reads books on philosophy in moody cafes. Fuck off.

We had a discussion once about films that embodied the Eighties and Pretty Woman was noted as the film most obviously liked by people who liked the Eighties....

Lord Of The Rings.

Smoking good, technology bad, and a load of nasty cobblers about blood purity and monarchism.

Can't remember what it's called, but it's written and directed by Steve Martin and it's all about a mature, silver-tongued and silver-haired lothario (played, coincidentally enough, by Steve Martin), who seduces a young naive girl who works in a shop, introducing her to a life of sensuous pleasure.

Basically, one middle aged man's wank fantasy inflicted on an unsuspecting public (and, more to the point, on me during a long-haul flight.)

Fucking vile.

I really liked Shop Girl...

I Spit on Your Grave.

I only saw the cut BBFC version, so god knows what the orginal was like. A woman running through a forest being repeatedly raped and then in the second half her getting her revenge, in once scene cutting one of the men's knob off. Horrible, horrible film.

I think it's a pretty moral film actually - at least it's consistent

And Resurrection Man- total moral meltdown.

I had to go to a cast and crew screening and listen to all involved wank on about how 'cutting edge' the film was when in reality it was a miserable glorification of knuckleheaded violence masquerading as political commentary.

Argh.
