modern rap with millions of views on youtube

With respect I am not sure you have been following the evolution of soundlcloud/emo rap very closely over these last few years.

My grandson showed me one yesterday that had over a billion views.
Descapito 6Bn views.

On tablet cannot link.

Portavoz and Belona from Chile. No loon shit or juvenilia. 2011/2012 but millions of views. English subs on the Portavoz ones.

that is good to hear.

I got quite into mexican trap a few years ago. def fits into the "juvenalia" category tho, the lyrics are a bit silly, but it is a tune when you hear it on big distorted hi fi speakers at the michelada stand in a market:

There was at least an element of talent and performance involved at one point.

There was.

It is no coincidence that the Stones, Dylan, Neil Young, Elton John et al are still flourishing five decades since their musical emergence.

Today's shit will be forgotten by next year.

Was a bit unsure about this one on first listen, but now I quite like it. The flow, the bars, the three drone shots, the transitions, the piano, the references....nice bit of creativity...
JME usually delivers and imo does so here...

...not quite half a million views for that particular video yet but it's only a month old. and the channel itself has 157 million views so I think it qualifies

Powfu - Death Bed.

96 Mill views on YouTube in two months
454 Mill listens on Spotify in two months
4.1 BILLION views on TikTok in March alone.

I quite like it, it reminds me of a 21 Pilots, Grandson, slacker hip hop vibe.

Ski Mask is def my current favourite rap artist... as well as his tunes being unique and fun he also seems like a proper nice cool guy and doesn't do misogynist or gun lyrics (of course I like a lot of tunes with misogynist and gun lyrics also though but i can listen to his songs with no guilt):

by contrast Drilla is the hottest name in chicago drill atm and his breakout tune (well all his tunes) is 100% gun. it is a diss track of 51 dead people. pretty morbid obviously but it has something no doubt.
