MK Dons! Good for Football?

tbaldwin said:
Its not eaxactly the worst idea ever is it? I mean it might be better than being dictated by the wealth of the chairman and board etc...
Look at Wales.....Look at your League.....The New Saints...formerly Total Network Solutions....Formerly erm er dont pick me up on my spelling please.....Llansantfraid.....A village side....Taken over by a rich man....Top of your National League!!!!!!

I reckon it might be better if towns like Llandudno,Ebbw Vale and Pontypridd with far larger populations were reperesnted in your national league rather than village teams like Caersws etc.....

so your proposals for the rounding up and forced resettlement of immigrants is extended to football clubs, brilliant!

Milton Keynes City would have been good for the people of Milton Keynes if they had bothered to support it.

Andy i think AFCW have been very good for Non league football ( apart from the fact that a lot of your money went to pay an assett stripper who fucked his local non league club!)
but not too many people want to watch south midlands league football do they...And obviosuly a lot of people in Milton Keynes do want to watch football at a higher level.
AFCW have attracted large crowds at most of their matches but without MK you wouldnt exist.
Are their crowds this season about double yours?

Wimbledon FC left plough lane 10 years before going to Milton Keynes. Clubs have changed their name before, look at Newton Heath. Milton Keynes Dons have been good for the people of Milton Keynes. Are they really all that bad?
Fuck off you stupid stupid CUNT:mad:

We did not want to watch non-league football full stop, but were forced into it. Quite happy watching Championship/Div 1 whatever its called these days football. So what if people from MK want to watch a higher level of football, if you call Div 4 football a higher level. They could always go & watch Luton, Northampton or go to London & watch Spurs, Arsenal etc. Yes I would say MK's average home attendance which is made up of about 30% free tickets is about double ours.

Apart from the fact you play at Kingstonian and you gave an assett stripper so much money....I really think AFCW have been good for Football.
But Football is run by money men Sam Hamann ran your club....Took you to Shithurst Park....then sold the club.....Up to him eh he bought it.....
Then winkelman bought it thought it work better in Milton Keynes and lets face it your fan basis was never exactly huge....

If Football was run by the fans it would be different....But it isnt is it?

Ahhh now we are getting to the crucial question should football clubs be allowed to "up sticks" & move to another location if they think that they will attract a larger fan base in that area. Well the FA rules say no & are quite clear on that issue. The only reason why WFC moved to MK was that the Fa are spineless weak tossers & Norwegians threatened to take them to court unless they convened a three man board who would make a final decision on the matter.

How many times do you need this explained to you?

They stole a league place that belonged to another club. The move was nothing to do with football and everything with tearing a club away from its community roots as a sweetener for a property deal. They're an insult to every other club that's had to work its way up the league the hard way, and as another poster said, football would be best served by them going out of existence ASAP.

And as for the 'football-crazy' people of MK- they had their own football club. It was called Milton Keynes City. It went bust through lack of interest.

Plastic fans of a plastic club.

What about Newton Heath? Do you feel strongly about that as well?

From what I remember, Milton Keynes City was played on pretty much the equivalent of a school field in a town called Bletchely... NOT Milton Keynes :D

Same thing???

My memory is shit though ;)

Do you think Wimbledon fans give a flying fuck what a Franchise apologist like you thinks?

Do you feel as strongly about Clyde or Livinston? Are franchises always wrong? What about the Newton Heath example?

Seeing as Newton Heath isn't 70 miles away from Manchester, not sure why you think that's a particularly helpful comparison.

Its exactly what Arsenal did when Henry Norris had them moved from Plumstead to Highbury, changed there name and petitioned* there way into the top flight of football at Spurs expense

Its not a new thing and theres nothing new with any of it really

*Petitioned, cough "Bribed" cough

So its about distances now is it? So if say Dundee were taken over by Dundee United as there grounds are very very close that would be OK....Or maybe Edinbugh or Glasgow United?

I've alreeady told you what it's about. It's about football clubs being uprooted from their traditional bases and being used as sweeteners in property deals, subverting in the process a league system that works on merit, not number of fans, size of town, bank balance or anything else.

What happened to Wimbledon was a disgrace, and only a wind-up merchant or someone who didn;t know the facts behind the move and the lies Winkleman and Koppel told to get it railroaded through by a supine FA would attempt to argue otherwise.

I have no knowledge of Clyde, Livingston or Newton Heath. Why would I? I grew up in Wimbledon, supporting Wimbledon and watched a bunch of cunts progressively steal my club.

I spent two fucking years politely debating with cunts like you on why our football club should not be stolen from us. It didn't get us any where which is why I don't debate with cunts like you anymore, haven't done since 26th May 2002. Dons like Andy may still have the patience to try and reason with cunts like you but I don't.

So just fuck off.:)

Did you ever see their ground? Wasn't it down in Bletchley anyway? Not really Milton Keynes :D

Well argubly denbigh. I think they are still currently playing at the hockey ground next to CMK station. New ground is in Bletchley which is still Milton Keynes as far as I am concerned ( I grew up there in fact)

No strangely enough they played on the land which is currently where the new ground is being built.

eta then they moved to Wolverton where by all acounts they had quite a nice little ground

MK City were a bit rubbish as well. When I was a kid, since I lived in Bletchley until I was 8, they were a bit of a local team for me. Their record for the Southern League Midland Division for 1982-1983 was P32 W0 D4 L28 For 22 Agt 90 Pts 4. :D

Denbigh was like a school field :D

I must have left MK when they moved to Wolverton (or completely missed the fact).

They're the future sadly. With all these Americans buying clubs it's only a metter of time before someone buys a premiership club with small local support (Wigan?) and moves to Dublin/Dubai/Delaware or wherever. The other American owners will support them and it's franchise football in England.

Yes it is.

You're not a football fan are you?

They are the most disliked team in the division.

We played them last month. The atmosphere wasn't exactly dripping with vitriolic hatred as it was when we played the boys from the B&Q over the river but there was plenty of low level distaste for them.

My team played in another city for ten years because of circumstances beyond our control and if anyone had dared try and steal them away to Milton Keynes as a result I would have screamed blue murder and probably tried to burn their new stadium down. So McDongs can fuck right off basically :)
