it's that chris morris 'batty dread' thing, isn't it? can't remember what name he used, but a google should be able to sort it out...

Sweet!
I'm looking forward to doing another.
I've got to admit I was a little dubious about the Cash vs Mills thing, but real life listeners were split 50-50 about it so I left it in. It wasn't meant to be like, a finely honed cut, just a light-hearted interstice taking us up into the more rinsing section of the mix :D :p

I really enjoyed all of them except The Funky Shit. I couldn't get past it being funk, which I just don't like, so I couldn't give it a fair assessment, since I was unable to listen to it without shuddering.
Soundclash was fun, I was really pleased to hear a load of hip-hop I'd not heard for ages
It's a Vibratory Thing was cool, but just a little too housey for me, I kept wanting it to step up the tempo.
Can't Be Satisfied I really liked to start with, there are some great tunes in there and it's stuff I didn't know very well, thus exciting, but the inclusion of Ike & Tina left me unsatisfied :(
New Roots and Panties I liked the most, hence voting for it. I like bass

Nope :p.

it was released by Keith Allen in the late 70s, it's based on an old Tappa Zukie riddim. Allen actually did a PA at Notting Hill Carnival where he insisted he wouldn't come out of his caravan because the streets weren't safe for a gay rasta.

The Chris Morris thing was quite recent, and wasn't Chris Morris :p

there was a flipside to the Allen track I only have on ratty old tape. It's got our hero falling in love with an Asian guy over the road ("...im parents got a lickle shop selling food and beer") and shagging him in a trolley at the back. After shoving most of the stock from the shop up his arse:

"as me cum in spasms on the floor his mum say
"there's VAT on that"

The irony - and no disrespect to sunspots, cos it was an ace mix - is that I deliberately didn't do a kind of garagey / rockabilly sort of mix cos everyone would know it was me. :)

next time, maybe :D

heh. i was on the verge of doing a rock 'n' roll one too, 'cause everyone seems to love that shit round here at the moment.

sunspots has better records than me though. :(
