mixtape soundclash - round 2

killer b

That vase.
following on from the recent soundclash here and here, anyone fancy another round? the rules are the same:

* Your mix should be no more than 45 minutes in length - any style or method of mixing is acceptable.
* The mix should be in MP3 format, and hosted somewhere where it won't run out after a certain amount of time of downloads
* The closing date is 14th November
* DO NOT post mixes in this thread - instead, PM me with a link, a short description and a tracklisting
* Make sure you cannot be identified by the file name, the hosting site or the description, as all of these will be viewable by the voting public.
* After the deadline, I'll post another thread, with links to all the mixes and their descriptions, and a poll. If the response is high, we'll go to heats, but we'll cross that when/if we get to it.
* Once the votes are in, i'll post the tracklistings and names of the creators.
* The winner gets no prize, just a nice warm feeling
the 45 minute rule is only a guide, but bear in mind that listeners may have to get through a lot of mixes, so it's only kind to keep it to around 45 minutes...

i was thinking this time, instead of a poll, we have eurovision-style ratings from each listener - ie, if there's 6 mixes, your favourite gets 5 point, and your least favourite gets zero - does this sound better than a poll?

sunspots won the last one with a groovy rockabilly type mix - this doesn't mean everyone should do a rockabilly mix this time... :D

closing date is negotiable, but it would be useful if people can get their entries in before then...

i'm game but can't we have a couple more weeks please???????

eurovision voting style could be good but a bugger to do on a poll. you'd need people to post their results instead.

yeah, i realise it'll be a bit more work. is it too complex? i'm happy to go with a poll if that's the concensus...

14th november for teh deadline then?

Yeah, maybe mid-Nov would be more realistic (and gain more entrants) - the points system sounds like a good idea to me - could PM killer b the scores rather than post 'em up...

oh, and can people post in the thread if they're planning on submitting a mix? that way i can badger them more easily when the deadline is looming...

I think eurovision style voting's a good idea. that's kind of how it works in the photo comp and it works well from what I can see.

when people pm me your mixes, can you make sure to write a paragraph describing it this time? despite it being clearly in the rules, not fucker did it last time and i had to do it myself.

So you're flexible about the '45 mins' rule, but not about the 'description' rule?

FIX

I think the time-limit should be properly enforced. Especially if this go-round is going to be much more popular than the last- 4hrs (+some) last time was quite a lot to digest, I reckon <30mins would be good if there's more than 8 mixes, but by then it'll be too late. And 30min mixes are probably harder to make much of. Meh.
I don't care really, I'm just thinking of the fans.

it might be a good idea if everyone uploads their mixes to a site which has an on-line player (podomatic has one), so that they can be listened to on-line without having to download them... that way people can try before they buy, so to speak...
