Mistabishi 'Drop'

Yeah, some killah tunes on that (especially the Junglistic ones) but some filler too imo.

I agree, but I think overall it's a better album than "Drop". Just my opinion, like. :)

I personally am hanging out for Blame's LP, i reckon that it is going to be full of WIN.

Listened to it for the first time today and it's nothing special but the one thing that has bugged me is the piano bit in Greed.

I'm sure I've heard the 11 notes before , the der der, der der, der der ,der der , der der der.

I'm sure it's from a film but I can't remember which one.

It is from a piece of modern classical music, someone who knows what it is told me the other day, bu I can't remember who or what. Might have been mation. Might have been another person. I should be seeing both people tonight so I will find out :)

Oh, okay. Any paticular reason, or just not into it at all? :)

well I've been off dnb for a long time as I don't think it's very creative or exciting at all anymore - not like it used to be (yeah yeah I know I sound like an old man) - but this album's had such a buzz - people saying it's refreshed the scene, best in years, blah blah blah, so I gave it a chance and not one track makes me want to jump up and down - it doesn't sound fresh or buzzing with new ideas, it's just flat and unmemorable.

tbf, if I was a DJ, there's not one track on the album I'd actually play out in a set. I suppose it's almost 'prog' dnb or whatever. Music for people who don't go clubbing any more :D Still great though, imo, good tunes well made.

I see where you're coming from re: this paticular LP, but i think DnB is constantly evolving, and it is (IMHO) an exciting time for the scene. Have you checked out any of the other Hospital roster at all? High Contrast maybe?

And just purely out of interest, whats your point of reference to what DnB used to be like (not trying to be a tricky twat, just wondering what you're comparing too, is all) :)

Heavy heavy bass, hip hop samples and and a highly distorted Amen break - hard but funky and no jazzy bizness or ladies wailing - the ultimate tune for me is this:

or Dead Dread's Dread Bass which is the prototype for so many inferior rip offs

I think this represents the worst of DnB - tinnie high hat beat with horror film samples

i'd love to hear "no matter what" out, cracking tune. an album doesn't have to be dancefloor smashers though. they can be a good chance for an artist to show different sounds to maybe a wider audience.

good track that

anyway - i do think "drop" is a good album, but there are much better dnb albums out there from recent times. cyantific's "ghettoblaster", klute' s "emperor's new clothes", SKC's "killing me softly", breakage's one, rufige kru's "malice in wonderland", break's "symmetry", calibre's latest one, mistical's "the eleventh hour"...

I know half of Cyantific - he's the brother of an esteemed Urbanite's gf - his electro material is much much better though

I dunno - 'White Collar Grime' might be an okay track to play out. but otherwsie I know what Crispy means - more of a 'having a few friends' round type of album.

rev_m played printer jam at offline last night, and people were dancing to it, some enthusiastically. I didn't think it'd work.
