Missing/lost cat

Miff has been discovered!

As a result of the 300 posters and 200 flyers in letter boxes, posters in shops and bus shelters and all over the area, people started to really take an interest...some people let me into their gardens to call her home, lots of people called up today with sightings ( quite a few of which weren't her but still, good effort for trying) and after I called to her in a man's garden in one street, twenty minutes later I got a call from a street with gardens that back onto it, and there was Miff, in their back garden!

I called her and she cried to me, and then I scooped her up and put her in a pillowcase with her head sticking out the top and carried her home, where she has had her medicine, and a huge meal, walked round purring and is now very happy, and so am I!

Hurray for the neighbours!

Now I have to go and take the posters down...starting with the ones in my street - good job I got Friday off

YAY :)

Oh wow! That's brilliant, brilliant news. Made my day :)

I think you should put stickers up over some of the posters saying that she's been found safe and well - I always wonder what's happened to the cat when I see posters.

OMG!!!
My heart jumped when I read that!!!!!!!!!! :)

I was going to post this earlier but felt it may have been insensitive but i will now.

OUr (my parents) cat went missing once.
She was already a bit of a special needs kinda cat having been run over badly before the age of 1. We got her from a rescue centre after this injury. She never lands on her feet and stuff
Anyway, she had been missing for nearly a week, we had looked everywhere and put up poster and were just resigning ourselves to the fact that she wasnt coming home.
Mum, sis and I were watching TV in the evening and it was a really autumnal storm outside.
My sis suddenly stood up and said "I can hear her". My mum was very concerned that my sister was just overly distressed and said "no darling you can't, its just the storm".
My sis went and opened the front door and there she was, half way down the drive, dragging her self along by her front paws and totally drenched and bedraggled.
She spent 3 nights in the vets and weeks in plaster, broken leg and pelvis but is still fine, if a little special all these years later.

:)

Thats such good news, I've been keeping an eye on this and not been sure what to say. I'm so glad she's safe and well :)

I'm so relieved that you (all) found her!

Great news! I'm sure the two of you purring at each other for days to come
I didn't know what to say to your last message BK so I'm especially pleased that she's home. PHEW!
Be sure to tell her that the internet warns her not to cause such alarm again

I'm so pleased for you. There's been loads of posters around here about missing cats recently. It always makes my heart sink seeing them.

I'm so pleased for you! Celebrate!

Oh my god how lovely! I'm so happy for you! Great idea with the posters, it'll be nice for everyone to know she's safe. What a sense of community your area must have!

Pleased to hear she's back in one piece. I don't know how old she is but I hope she's been spayed. Years ago we had a lovely little cat called Molly who we didn't get spayed, she disappeared for a week or so and eventually came home looking a bit worse for wear. Two months later we were over run with lovely kittens.

Fantastic news.
Great, that means that we will get more tales of Miff's daring escapades.
Like hiding from mice etc.

This totally made our day as well. I'm so pleased for you and the Miffster. How far was she from your house?

We are back on Saturday, btw, and if you need a night away from the rubble you know where we are. :)

We've just made 50 saying 'Miff has been found! Thank you so much for all your help!'

and are about to set off and put them all up straightaway.

I'm so pleased she's been found safe and well!

Lovely idea to make the follow-up posters as well - whenever I see lost cat posters I always wonder what happened, whether they were found - I'm sure you'll give lots of people a little bright moment in their day to see your good news :)

:) a list of excellent things to come out of this fucking nightmare experience

1. Miff has not stopped purring since she came home
2. There was a card 'from number 81' addressed to Miff pushed through the door when I came home.
3. 17 text messages from pleased totally anonymous strangers
4. Even more messages from members of the public who had texted or phoned in with info about possible sightings whom I texted back with news she was found
5. 4 people randomly stopped me on the street to rejoice
6. Shop donated a packet of cat biscuits
7. Another shop keeper shook my hand
8. Notices about Miff being found now have :) writing on them: one had ''Yay! We saw the missing notices and walked all round the block calling! now we find this! EXCELLENT'
9. When I took it down in one pub a big hard bloke came over and literally started dancing with excitement, then told me all about a Burmese kitten he had, 'beautiful it was', that fell off a roof when he lived in Marble Arch, and crashed through an awning and landed, and ran off, and was taken by 'estate children' who tried to sell it to the chip shop owner, who tipped him off and then he went to the estate and the first door he knocked was one of the kid's mothers and they both went in a taxi to the kid's big sister's where the kitten was because the kid gave it to his sis and when the kitten saw him it attached itself to his jumper 'like a fucking limpet man'.
10. The council flyposting man has declined to fine me as long as I get the posters down by the weekend.
11. I have lost 5lbs though not eating and walking miles.
12. I love Hackney

Miff has lost weight too. She is curled next to me with her paws over her eyes, having been treated with Advocate anti-parasite drops, and is now snoring her head off.
