Missing cat - what can I do?

Yeah, it's possible... but unlikely. She's female, so although she liked her day trips, she wouldn't have gone this long if she could come back. I suppose there's a chance that she was locked in a shed or garage by a weekend gardener, and she might be released at the weekend, but this is unlikely as it was evening when we last saw her. Also, as it was a sunday it's unlikely she jumped into the back of a van or something.

That said, the council haven't picked anything up round our way, so you never know. I'd worry about her health, but she got her boosters at the vet on the Friday before (she could have disappeared before we forked out £50! ;)) and she was in perfect condition.

I think she's a goner. What's heartbreaking is that she had a fetish for the red postman's elastic bands. God knows where she got them from, but she brought home about 10 a day to play with. In the mornings the kitchen floor would be covered. Gutting not to see that anymore.

I take it she didn't appear to have any reaction to the shots - I'd find that more worrying than reassuring given the circumstances.

I would think it still likely she'll turn up. It's only been a couple of days. Here's hoping :)

Oh, that detail about the elastic bands made me well up. I really hope she comes back, bedraggled and arsey and hungry but home soon. How are the posters going? Have you tried befriending local 7/11 stores and asking them to put up small ads, and offering a small reward?

Na, not at all, she was fine. She's had them before.

It's been 4 days now, that's a long time. Think it's best to stop hoping. If she returns it will just be an incredible surprise :)

Don't give up hope. My cat that went missing was also female, had never strayed far before and she was gone 7 days. The day she came scrambling at the back door was one of the best days of my life. So really, please don't give up hope as there's still a good chance everything is okay.

My sister-in-laws cats used to disappear everytime they were frontlined, wormed taken to the vets etc and always came back.

Maybe she's annoyed about having the jabs.

oh, seen above that she's had jabs before. Ignore what I just said then.

Yeah, going to do another poster / mailbox drop run on Saturday. There aren't really many shops nearby, but it all helps.

Put the posters up, and 'cast your net' wider than you think. It may also be worth putting an ad in the local paper.

My cat lived for four weeks after he went missing, although he was found trapped by the RSPCA and died as they were rescuing him. :(:(He was an astonishing distance (in cat terms) away from the house for a cat who never roamed, & we made the mistake of concentrating our search too near home.

Good luck - I hope she comes back.

SHE'S BACK!!!!!! :D

Mrs Chris called me through to the kitchen this morning and who should be drinking a whole bowl of water but Monkey! She's a little thinner, but not 'no food or water for 2 weeks' thinner. Coat was a bit bedraggled but nothing terrible. She's happy and purring and her old self. Will take her to the vets tomorrow for a check up, but on the whole she seems perfectly fine.

Beanie, her sister, is not happy... lots of agitated miaowing and she's hissing at Monkey. Guess she got used to be top/only cat!

Oh my god, that's brilliant.

When Delilah went missing one of our other cats was very odd when she came back and she'd only been gone a couple of days. He was hissing and hitting her but he calmed down. Magic Sam says it's because they have lost their scent.

12 days she's been gone... amazing that she's back. She seems exhausted to be honest, happy, but totally exhausted. Maybe she's lost more weight than I initially though - still got her paunch, but her spine seems bony.

Maybe she was on a holiday?

Good news hey?

(I guess it might be worth taking her to the vets for a check up)

Woohoo! That's fantastic news, I bet you're grinning like a little kid today :D:D

Now, give her a clip around the ear and tell her in a stern voice never to do that again

Well, on closer inspection, it turns out she's very, very skinny. She must have been trapped somewhere. Quite shocking to feel where her podgy belly used to be - there's not an ounce of fat. She was under the bed this morning, according to Mrs Chris, so she must have come in during the night or very early this morning. She'll have had a bit food I guess so now just needs to sleep it off.

Yeah, will take her to the vets tomorrow. When the dried food was rattled she ran through at breakneck speed and I've done the 'prod' test which drew no yelps, so I don't think she's been hit.

Brilliant! :D I'm really happy for you. I'm sure she'll recover soon. When my cat went missing for 3 weeks, he'd also lost loads of weight as he'd been trapped with no food, and the vets said he was fine. He put the weight back on quickly as well, and he was as good as new in no time :)
