Microsoft Tries To Patent RSS

Firefox is open source, Opera isn't (AFAIK).

That, surely, is the point.

You might trust a proprietary software company to "not be evil", but frankly, I wouldn't.

More's the point, with an excellent open source alternative, why should I even consider it?

I like Opera as a browser, and i was going to try it as a browser and mail client, but it absolutely refuses to properly import my Thunderbird email.

My email in Thunderbird is organized by folders--first by year, then by country, then by person or organization. If i try to import from Thunderbird, Opera will do some of the folders fine, and will, for no apparent reason, simply ignore others, telling me that there are no messages to import.

I could, i suppose, import all the mbox files, but that would then require me to set up all the individual folders again in the Opera filter section, and i fucking refuse to do that.

I should be able to click on the appropriate account and have Opera import the whole thing, including the directory structure. It says it will do this, but in practice it won't.

Fuck it. I'm not using for browsing or email.

w3schools the w3c's off shoot training site... so i'd guess that these are web wide...

w3schools isn't a part of, or affiliated with, the W3. It's owned by a Norwegian software house. And they print the following underneath their browser stats:

W3Schools is a website for people with an interest for web technologies. These people are more interested in using alternative browsers than the average user. The average user tends to use Internet Explorer, since it comes preinstalled with Windows. Most do not seek out other browsers.

These facts indicate that the browser figures below are not 100% realistic. Other web sites have statistics showing that Internet Explorer is used by at least 80% of the users.
