After all that, when he has played, he got 7 in 11 for you. If he carries on like that he'll do very well for you. I'd have him back for Liverpool like a shot because he shits defences up like no other player we ever had.

Well he was treated badly in that although he scored goals they kept making him sub. They were probably correct though to be fair. Zoltan69 is right also and any club will make horrendous decisions when it has Freddy Shepherd as chairman. You don't even have to know the bloke or anyone who knows him to see that IMO. Michael Owen therefore has to be a wrongun and he's getting on a bit to have to relearn how to accelerate and control the ball at above parks football tempo. Them wet heavy footballs can right hurt if they land on your hooter instead of your chest and if there's checkside on the thing and you have a hangover you don't want to head it goalward even if it makes the onion sack rattle.

The facts are that Owen scored 7 in 13 starts for Newcastle before his injury which is a more than decent strike rate.
Owen scored 13 in 20 starts for Real Madrid which is a decent strike rate.
Scored 256 goals for Liverpool in 419 starts which is again more than decent.

Pace or no pace, that isn't everything is it? Ryan Giggs lost his years ago but is still a superb player. Experience and positional sense come more into their games, in fact they are better players now than relying just on pace.
He's 29, at his peak now and if he has regained full fitness then he is one of the best goal scorers in the world. If you don't agree check the goal scoring record above!
