Michael Jackson at the O2 - July 2009

D'wards

IT'S YOUR DECISION DANIEL
Even though i'm not a massive Michael Jackson fan, think i will go to this.

He is a living legend i suppose.

Bet its gonna be expensive and hard to get tickets, you think?

A friend of mine is one of those weird Jackson fanatics who hangs around his hotel and goes on holidays to neverland and that sort of thing, and she will stop at nothing to get tickets and said she will get me one, if they are not over £100.

Anyone else gonna go?

:D

She must be mental fanatic

Nah, its me thats set the £100 max - she will pay anything - only problem is she wants to go early and go down the front, not too bothered about that myself

Jackson is such damaged goods that I just can't see how this will be any good. Maybe if he stuck to performing old Jackson 5, Off The Wall and Thriller stuff he'd be alright, but I suspect there will be a lot of his latter-day messiah-complex big bollocky ballads thrown in and you'd have to pay me to sit through that. Imagine paying a hundred quid to hear fucking Earth Song?

He's massively overrated
He can't really sing anymore
I doubt he can really dance

It will be shite.

Saw Prince at the 02.
But can't imagine Wacko performing on the same standard.
Shame really.

Considering hois last "live" performece was half a verse during some awards ceremony i really doubt this will be anything other then the final nail in the coffin for him.

Still if i could get in free i would go. I loved bad and dangerous more then he loves plastic surgery(you thought i was going to say kids didn't you)

dave

I agree he is overated and has done nowt good really since Thriller, but he is the Circus of Michael Jackson, and i can afford it so why not?

Tho the fact he is the most famous man in the world/top of the celebrity tree does not bode well for his chances on U75

No, the fact he's a twat who hasn't made any decent tunes in about 15 or 20years does not bode well for his chances on U75.

Hmm because of his track record, I can't see it happening.

I'll believe it when I see it - he hasn't done a live show for years and years, but hasn't he signed more than one contract to do live shows in the past (or a tour) and then bottled it at the last minute? I reckon he'll chicken out and get sued for breach of contract - again.

there's no way it will even nearly sell out if he's doing 50.
don't panic and try to buy them when they first come out, you'll get awful seats! wait till the later shows get announced

Unless he's made some sort of dramatic improvement of late, I can't see this being anything other than a freakshow. When he made that 'dramatic return to the stage' at the MTV awards (or whatever it was) he barely sang three lines.

How many did prince do? Reckon wacko is far more famous than Prince, could do more than him i think...

Prince did 21 I think. And brilliant it was too.

Problem for Jacko though is that he isn't famous for his music any more - he's famous for plastic surgery and most definitely not being a paedophile.

Complete agree with this

Looks like the actual show dates won't be announced til later (today?)

Not that I want to be anywhere near London when this shambles happens, but I undertand the dates will be June. Hopefully late June, because I want there to be no risk at all that he'll come to Glastonbury

Prince has far more talent and always has had... plus he's not 'lost it' big time.

I do remember Michael Jackson playing Leeds Roundhay Park twenty years ago - he was massive then, but now?

Posters are already going up in some London tubes...

Fair do's, me mate said he was playing loads of new funk numbers, then played the first verses of his hits "stars on 45" style.

he did do a little medley, but mostly he played the whole songs, there was only one funk jam in the middle but he did play for like 2 and a half hours so you can forgive him that! and he ended with a full Purple Rain followed by Nothing Compares To U!
